Samman Publishing House in Kathmandu aims to enable Nepali and Nepali diaspora to publish their stories in print and digitally, with global marketing and distribution. Our goal is to support authors in sharing their narratives worldwide efficiently.

Role Description

This is an on-site internship role at Samman Publishing House in Kathmandu for a Publishing House Intern. The Intern will be involved in day-to-day tasks to run a publishing house such as manuscript review, editing, layout design, marketing support, and assisting with book distribution.

Most of your work is going to be in Adobe Indesign or going to bookstores for sales. We will teach you how to get started with it. You are required to have a laptop that supports Adobe Indesign.

Job description

This is a a three months paid internship, which could turn into a full time job. You are going to be in the office 4 days a week - Monday to Thursday 11 AM to 5 PM. The work hours are flexible as long as you can commit to a 24 hours on-site work week. We are located in Chandol, Kathmandu.

• One week testing period: on-site working on real problems

Qualifications

• Interested in Editing and Proofreading
• Marketing and Distribution support abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team or by themselves

Good to have

• Layout Design skills using Adobe Indesign (you can learn it on the job as well)
• Interest in Nepali literature and publishing industry
• Enrolled in or recent graduate in English, Journalism, or a related field
