Project Coordinator for Vocational Training Support to Young Women in Kathmandu Valley Project-1 Position

About the Project: Youth employment is one of the important components of the Girls Act Program of Plan International. It aims to provide vocational/skill training to disadvantaged migrant young women currently living in a vulnerable situation in the peripheral area of Kathmandu valley. Besides imparting vocational training and life skills, the graduates will be ensured job placement in the hospitality sector such as hotels and restaurants.       

 Purpose: The position holder will be responsible to develop, process and nurture a workable collaborative partnership with hospitality sector (mainly hotels and restaurants) in Kathmandu valley to promote employment opportunities for the vulnerable migrant young women of the peripheral area of Kathmandu valley

Term and Location:  Fixed term employment till 30 April 2019 based in Country Office, Lalitpur

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant subject
  • At least 4 years of work experience in development projects particularly in coordination, liaison and networking with private sector organizations in hospitality business primarily in hotel and restaurants
  • Good knowledge and experiences of job analysis, job placement
  • Experience in capacity building, training and facilitation
  • Proven knowledge of youth employment issues and contemporary practices in Nepal, Asia and across the world
  • Clear understanding of government’s policies, programs and priorities related to youth employment
  • Understanding and knowledge of government private sector policies and programs in vocational/skill training and job placement
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of gender transformative agenda and its application in the rural context
  • Understanding project development and management in participatory process
  • Knowledge of conflict sensitive project management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Detail Implementation Plan and Project Outline (PO)
  • Carryout out partnership agreement
  • Carryout budget modification and addendum as required
  • Coach partner NGO and its Project Officer on the overall aspect of the project
  • Support partner Project Officer in all stages of project implementation including developing eligibility criteria, participant selection, aptitude test and vocational skill training
  • Accompany partner NGO in forming good working relationship with the players of the hospitality sector such as hotels and restaurants so as to create employment opportunities for the training graduates
  • Together with the partner NGO and players of the hospitality sector, develop a mechanism/process for continuous recruitment of disadvantaged young women in the workforce of hotels and restaurants
  • Spend at least 90% of the office time in the field to implement and monitor project activities
  • Update programmatic and financial progress reports in system
  • Prepare quarterly reports and grants reports
  • Form and nurture collaboration with the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) and Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN)
  • Liaise with government, civil society organizations and private sector agencies in promoting youth employment
  • Undertake other assigned responsibility when delegated
