Roles and responsibilities of this job

Under the direct supervision of the executive board, the Program Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting project activities.
Work closely under the supervision of BWAN's executive board.
Maintain communication with partners, Organization of Persons with Disabilities, NGO communities, and Government entities.
Prepare project reports and submit them to BWAN’s board for approval.
Develop new project proposals and explore resource possibilities for BWAN's activities.
Foster partnerships with similar organizations to promote the inclusion and participation of Blind and Visually Impaired girls/women.
Ensure annual planning, periodic review, and timely reporting of projects and organizational activities.
Perform other functions and duties as prescribed by the Board.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than or equal to 2 years

Other Specification

Bachelor's degree in sociology, or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in the development sector.
Experience in common MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database software.
Experience in managing development cooperation projects, including monitoring, reporting, evaluation, proposal development, and capacity building of women, particularly women with disabilities.
Proven understanding of gender, inclusion, and disability issues.
Experience in working directly with stakeholders, partners, Organization of Persons with Disabilities, and local-level branches.
Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali.
Ability to spend at least 30% of time in the field.

Functioning as a self-help group, the organization is committed to fostering the holistic development and empowerment of women and girls with disabilities in general and blind and visually impaired girls and women in particular. BWAN strives to establish equal access to justice, education, employment, and social activities. BWAN announces a vacancy for a project, “Empowering Women with Disabilities for Economic Justice and Gender-Based Violence Prevention in Tilottama Municipality, Lumbini Province”, in partnership with Disability Rights Fund (DRF). The objective of the project is to force the local government to implement the existing national and international policies to prevent gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities and promote economic justice for women and girls with disabilities in the Tilottama Municipality of Rupandehi district of Lumbini Province.
