About the organization
Sukalpa International is a CTEVT-affiliated research, training and consulting organization that provides industry and community-based learning services including different TVET programs in various domains such as Food, Agriculture, Retail, Sales, Aged-Care, and Hospitality. These programs include different aspects to the intervention that help bridge the LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) gaps.
In support of Parvata Foods India and Millennium Alliance, Sukalpa is currently running the, “Farmer Training and Building Ginger Value Chain in Nepal” project, which aims to provide training to 3200 ginger farmers of Ilam District in modern agriculture and post-harvest practices with a focus on organic farming. The project also looks out for areas of national and international marketing of ginger and ginger-made products.
Nepal has mostly remained within the top ten positions as the world's biggest exporter of ginger throughout the decade. However, Nepalese ginger has not received a good price due to several factors such as the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, lack of education in farmers, unstable market chain, etc. As Ilam is one of the most suitable regions for ginger farming, the project empowers farmers with the needed knowledge and resources for organic ginger farming along with establishing a ginger processing unit at the project sites, and helps farmers connect to a greater market ensuring a decent value of the products.
Parvata Foods is revolutionizing Agri-business in North-East and Eastern India. Parvata is building an integrated value chain of organic produce from Sikkim and other North-Eastern states. Now, the organization wants to replicate the same project in Nepal starting from Ilam and benefit the farmers and the nation in agricultural development.
