Job Description

Reports to: Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in HVAC systems for data centers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions for data center operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Create detailed HVAC system designs for data centers, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems such as Row, Perimeter, DX, Chill water) to maintain required environmental conditions.
  • System Analysis: Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and simulations to ensure HVAC systems meet efficiency and performance standards.
  • Project Management: Manage HVAC projects from conception through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate HVAC designs with other building systems.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents.
  • Installation Oversight: Supervise the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuringadherence to design specifications and standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC systems, performing maintenance and recommending improvements as needed.
  • Innovation: Stay updated on the latest advancements in HVAC technology and data center design, incorporating innovative solutions into projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC design, with a focus on data centers or critical environments.
  • Certifications:
             - CTDC/ATD certification is a plus.
             - Familiarity with data center design standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942) is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD), and a strong understanding of HVAC principles and data center requirements.
  • Knowledge:Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and best practices for energy  efficiency in data centers.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to data center sites for inspections, meetings, and audits.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and multiple projects.
  • Fixed-Term Contract: 2 Years (with Potential for Extension)
