Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the maternal and newborn health project using portable ultrasound (USG) and pregnant women approach (PWG) interventions.

Terms and Location: Fixed term employment till 30th September 2016 based in Sindhuli Programme Unit with frequent travel to community and VDCs

Core Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health/ Nursing in relevant technical field, with staff nurse or auxiliary nurse midwife background.
At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in maternal, new born and child health and if possible Pregnant Women’s Groups programme management at district level.
Experience in coordination, liaison, networking, managing teams, finance and other critical management domains.
Competencies both in spoken and written English and Nepali languages

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare plan for project activities with District Health Office(DHO) in coordination with District Development Committee(DDC) and other stakeholders at district level; and National Health Training Centre(NHTC), Family Health Division(FHD), National Health Education Information and Communication Centre(NEICC).
Implement the project in the selected VDCs which have disadvantaged communities.
Manage training in use of Mobile USG to nursing staffs of the selected health facilities and monitoring support of them.
Coordinate with DHO, DDC and Village Development Committees(VDCs) to strenghten Primary Health Care/Outreach clinics(PHC/ORC) and birthing centers(BC) in disadvantaged communities.
Train Female Community Health Volunteers(FCHV) and help to form PWGs through local health facilities in the selected VDCs.
Disseminate Maternal Newborn and Child Health(MNCH) messages to community groups through FCHVs and group leaders of PWG’s by using mother cards.
Work in close collaboration with the government health officials throughout the project to ensure integration of the PWGs approach within government health system.
Prepare planning /budgeting and reporting related to the project.
Coordinate with Health Programme Coordinators at PU level.
