About the job

Job Summary

  • Review and approve retail loan applications (HL, AL, CC and PL) credit files
  • Review and Approve Business Banking credit applications
  • Ensure that credit origination decisions are executed in line with the delegated authority while adhering to the process standards defined 
  • Achieve turnaround time as per agreed target with business. Consistently work to shorten/improve turnaround time of credit applications
  • Optimise operating efficiency while balancing the effectiveness of decision making within the Retail Risk Operations function.
  • Challenge poor process. Apply best practices and learning from across the Bank and outside
  • Adherence to laws and regulations, internal risk and compliance policies and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Proactive identification of risks and concerns, including escalation to all relevant stakeholders
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters.
  • Lead verification function within the Lending and Risk Operations and continuously strive to identify/strengthen the process/procedure

  • Support the Business growth aspiration through accurately/timely execution of Responsibilities. Ensure awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.

  • Ensure awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.

  • Credit policies standard and Risk management framework
  • Retail Banking Fraud Process standards
  • Credit Initiation standards
  • Other applicable group and regulatory processes

People & Talent

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. 
  • Work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development.

Risk Management

  • Responsibilities relating to identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling, and mitigating risks to the Group/local regulator, as well as an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group/local regularity and the role the individual plays in managing them. 

Governance

  • To ensure satisfactory audit rating from Group Audit/Statutory Audit /QA team
  • CST compliance.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display standard conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and 
  • business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. 
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Exercise authorities delegated and act in accordance with banks policy.
