Roles and responsibilities of this job
The Nepal Archiving Project, supported by the Norwegian Environment Agency (NEA–Norway), aims to restore, safeguard, and operationalize the Ministry of Forests and Environment’s (MoFE) historical Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) documentation.
Much of this material—particularly from the energy sector—exists in fragile paper form and is currently difficult to access, search, or reuse. The project goes beyond conventional digitization by establishing a secure, locally hosted, role-based digital archive with structured metadata, OCR capabilities, and advanced search functions.
The initial phase focuses on the energy sector as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), processing a first batch of EIA documents while validating workflows, data governance practices, and legal considerations under the Environment Protection Act (2019).
Position Summary
The Knowledge Management Officer (Consultant) will support the foundational phase of the archiving project by leading digitization workflows, organizing environmental documentation, and ensuring high-quality data management practices. The role requires close collaboration with MoFE staff and project partners to build a structured, accessible, and reliable digital archive.
