Position: Inclusive Humanitarian Lead
Employment type: Full time, fixed-term contract of twelve months
Duty station: NAB Central Office, Sukedhara, Kathmandu, with frequent travel to Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading
Reports to: Director, Nepal Association of the Blind
Salary: NPR 100,000 per month (gross)

Background

Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB) is the national umbrella organization of blind and partially sighted people in Nepal. NAB works to promote the rights, inclusion, and empowerment of people with visual impairments through advocacy, capacity building, and service delivery. The Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB), with support from the Norwegian Association of Blind and Partially Sighted (NABP), is implementing Restoring Independence, a twelve-month disability-inclusive response to the August 2026 Bhote Koshi–Trishuli floods in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. NAB invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the following position.

Major Responsibilities

Lead the planning, implementation, budgeting and quality assurance of the project, and supervise the project team.
Lead the accessible needs assessment, ensure disability-disaggregated data using the Washington Group Questions, and produce the assessment report for NDRRMA and NABP.
Oversee accessible referral, individual need-based support and community-based psychosocial counselling for persons with disabilities.
Represent NAB with NDRRMA, local governments, NFDN, local OPDs and the humanitarian clusters, and advocate for disability-inclusive help desks and an accessible disaster response hotline.
Lead orientation on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction, the DIDRR manual and accessible IEC materials.
Ensure compliance with NAB’s safeguarding and PSEAH policies, and prepare timely narrative and financial reports.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, disaster risk management, public health, social work or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree with strong additional experience may be considered.
At least five years’ experience in humanitarian response, disaster risk reduction or development programming in Nepal, including two years in a leadership or project management role.
Demonstrated experience of disability inclusion, or of working with or within organizations of persons with disabilities.
Working knowledge of the UNCRPD, the Act Relating to Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2074, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act 2074, and the IASC Guidelines on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action.
Excellent written and spoken Nepali and English, strong report writing and team management skills, and computer proficiency.
Willingness to travel and work in flood-affected areas under difficult conditions.
A valid driving license for a two-wheeler or four-wheeler will be an advantage/preference, given the frequent travel to flood-affected areas.

The Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB) is the only rights-based umbrella organization representing blind and partially sighted persons in Nepal. Established in 1993, NAB comprises 7 provincial committees, 46 district branches, and 2,520 general members. Registered under number 320 at the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, NAB advocates for the protection and promotion of the rights and interests of blind and partially sighted persons throughout the country. NAB is a member of the World Blind Union and the National Federation of Disabled-Nepal and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council. The organization implements programs related to education, vocational training, sustainable livelihood, advocacy, assistive devices, legal literacy, and organizational development to ensure dignity, inclusion, and independent living for blind and partially sighted persons across Nepal.

To achieve its goals, Nepal Association of the Blind has been implementing various activities in four municipalities of Kailali district and one municipality of Kanchanpur district in partnership with the Norwegian Association of Blind and Partially Sighted under the Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADiR) consortium program. The consortium in Nepal includes the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFD-N), National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN), Parent Federation of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PFPID Nepal), and Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh (NNJS) and five organizations in Norway.
