Reports to: Deputy Managing Director
Location: Chamardhap, Jhapa, Nepal
Shift: Standard (09:00 AM to 05:00 PM) from Sunday to Friday
Position Overview:
Feed Nutritionists shall be responsible for promoting a better understanding of the effect of diet on the health, well-being, and productivity of animals. He/she shall be active in the field of agriculture, provide advice and information on animal nutrition, and design and evaluate the diets of the animals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare animal feeds: Composition, nutritional specifications, and formulas of animal feeds. Feed additives, energy values, nutritional and supplemental needs depending on the requirement.
- Animal feed ingredients: Assessing the nutritional value and the chemical composition of feed, grass, forage, and supplements. Evaluating what an animal is eating and how its food intake affects its health, in addition to the health of its consumers.
- Prepared animal feed contamination hazards: Contamination and spoilage hazards related to animal feeds. Prevention and reaction.
- Feed additives: The products used to improve the quality of animal feed and the quality of the food that these animals produce or are turned into; or to improve the animals' performance and health.
- Regulations for hygiene in feeding animals: The body of regulations that require feed business operators to comply with standards of hygiene and traceability.
- Food legislation: Legislation related to the food and feed industry including food manufacturing, hygiene, safety, raw materials, additives, GMOs, labelling, and environmental and trade regulations.
- Reporting: Analysing, interpreting data and provide the status of the project to the line managers and directors upon request
Skills and Qualifications
Task Related Skills and Certifications
- Master's degree in nutrition, animal science, veterinary, agriculture or related field
- 2+ years of experience in the animal agriculture/animal health industry with a strong understanding of dairy feed and management.
- Knowledge of feed additives, ingredients, and feed technologies
- Experience working on feed with pregnant cows and newly born calves.
