Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of this job

The teacher will be responsible for presenting and explaining learning materials and educating students on new subjects
The teacher will communicate their subject matter by using lectures, printed, visual, audio and/or video materials
They must create a curriculum, form daily lesson plans, and prepare all lesson materials
In class, teachers may lecture on a specific subject and/or assign work, projects, and tests to help build knowledge and assess the students’ overall performance in a class
The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining and managing their classrooms and take disciplinary action when needed
In order to educate their class and ensure success, teachers should maintain a positive attitude, be energetic about the subjects they teach, and share a passion for learning themselves

About the organization

Crystal Monntain Basic School

Crystal Mountain School (CMS)was established in 1994 AD in Dho- Tarap village by the French non-profit Action Dolpo.

It was the first school in upper Dolpa (Dolpo). Children from all over Dolpa enrolled at CMS until more schools were established in other parts of the region.

Apart from the regular government curriculum, we also teach the Dolpo dialect of the Tibetan language, basic Buddhist philosophy, cultural performances and arts, and computer skills.

Currently, over 200 students are enrolled at CMS. Due to the extreme weather in winter, the regular school only runs for seven months from mid-April to mid-November. However, school has been conducting winter classes for grades III and higher since 2009 in its passive solar building. Winter classes are run by local youths and alumni.

After grade eight, students come to Kathmandu for further studies. They stay at Snow Leopard Residence but go to different schools and universities.
