SASANE is a survivor-led organization, established in 2008, that means “Let’s protect ourselves”. It is under the founding principle that women survivors of human trafficking have immense potential to combat the exploitation of Nepalese women and girls and to create social change. SASANE’s mission is to end the physical and sexual exploitation of young girls in Nepal.

The Counselor will be responsible specially to look after the below mentioned project. In relation, the COUNSELOR is requested to provide needful insights and support to the organization as and when needed and requested by the Authority.

School for justice –  funded by Free a Girl

This project intends to meet its objective of empowering CSEC survivors to have a sustainable livelihood by ensuring quality education. For this, 20 girls/women have been selected from a pool of trafficking survivors (previous paralegals and referred by other partner organizations) who at some point have come across commercial sexual exploitation. Girls/women will be enrolled for higher studies (University degree) of their interest to build upon a career on it. Further, they are  placed at a girl's hostel (Kathmandu and Pokhara) so that they can concentrate on their studies along with English language classes to improve their understanding. Moreover, this project will also focus on sensitizing community level stakeholders for effective reintegration of the CSE girls. 

School for Justice has currently launched a campaign called "Voice for Justice".Besides education, the students of the School for Justice Nepal also act as spokespersons in the campaign, which will focus on one specific case among the spokespersons so that SFJ students feels strong enough to file a complaint, bring those responsible for this crime to justice, spark the conversation as a change agent, grow support from the community, change the system from within, fight impunity and raise awareness about sexual exploitation of children on a national- and an international platform.

The Counselor will be supporting in the overall motivational process ensuring mental wellness

Perform psychosocial counseling to the beneficiaries of ‘School for Justice’ program being flexible with their timing.

  • Once a week with each beneficiary in the first month
  • Once a month with each beneficiary from second month onward

Develop monthly report based on the counseling session

  • About the status, progress and steps to be taken for each beneficiary considering their interest in supporting the program
  • Submit a report to the Project Manager with the feedback on a monthly basis

Travel to field office as per requirement

  • Have to travel to the Pokhara Office for counseling per requirement

Smooth coordination with hostel warden and program manager

  • Support to maintain cordial relationship/environment in SASANE house/hostel/office
  • Should coordinate with hostel warden and program coordinator before each counselling session for time management. Time should not hamper college timing and beneficiaries’ routine

Attend programs/events/workshops related the project

Related task assigned by program manager

SASANE is an organization working with the survivors, hence any individual coming in contact through our work is expected to treat all staff and beneficiaries with respect and maintain confidentiality. SASANE’s Code of Conduct should be filled mandatorily upon hire on an annual basis
