BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. Working with media and communication to help reduce poverty and support people in claiming their rights, our aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world. BBC Media Action reaches some 200 million people through local broadcast partners, BBC channels (especially the BBC World Service), online, mobile and print platforms and through interpersonal communication. We are currently delivering projects in 24 countries, including in Nepal. BBC Media Action has been working on communication for development projects in Nepal since 2007, giving us a well-developed understanding of Nepali audiences and significant experience of producing and evaluating media content on a range of issues to diverse target audiences.

“The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. Job Overview:

BBC Media Action Nepal is seeking applications from qualified candidates in the following specialisations for consultancy service. Applications will be kept in the roster for two (2) years. Based on expertise, only suitable consultants will be contacted and only if the relevant consultancy opportunity arises.

All consultancy services will be procured and remunerated as per BBC Media Action’s polices and procedures.

Female and applicants from marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.

The consultant will ideally have specialisation/expertise in at least one of the following areas.

1. Communications - Translation/Transcribing

4. Programme Production (Radio, Television including Digital and Social Media)

Sound Design and Technician
Drama/PSA Scriptwriters
Drama/PSA Actors
Drama/PSA Producer
Graphics Design and Animation
Video Editing
Music Composer

Essential skills and experience

Qualification:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in the relevant field is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the relevant field is required if you are looking for a support role.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the relevant field is required if you are looking for an expert role.
Demonstrated experience of working in development sector will be an added advantage.

Language:

Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nepali
