Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (Subject to grant approval)
Contract duration: 22 months 
Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent and extended field visit
Project Area: Nawalparasi Bardaghat Susta West and Banke districts

Please note that this position is contingent upon funding. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic management of the consortium
  • Initiate, strengthen and maintain positive relations and engagement with government, civil society, donor and other stakeholders as well as external representation of the consortium
  • Ensure the consortium project activities implementation as well as respect strong project cycle management practices and quality standard by the consortium members
  • Directly supervise the overall preparation and planning of Action Against Hunger consortium project activities in Nawalparasi West district (in close coordination with Nawalparasi Field manager) and at national level
  • Fulfil general responsibilities and contribute to broader Action Against Hunger Nepal country programme, operational quality and consistency

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Master’s degree in social science, food security, disaster risk management, public health, nutrition, humanitarian and development studies or a relevant discipline with at least five years of extensive experience (preferred seven years)  in the humanitarian and / or development sector, including at least  two years with International organisations in senior management role (a bachelor degree in similar topics may be acceptable if balanced by significant experience)
  • At least four years of extensive experience in social protection, humanitarian Response and/ or disaster risk management 
  • At least two years previous experience in independently managing a consortium model of working and / or a field unit
  • Strong knowledge and experience in coordinating activities with multiple partners and liaising with government officials 
  • Strong knowledge and in-depth understanding of social protection, disaster risk management, humanitarian response and preparedness, early warning system 
  • Good understanding of shock responsive social protection and forecast –based financing
  • Sound knowledge / understanding of health, nutrition, resilience, food security and livelihood situation in Nepal and of community/social mobilization
  • Excellent written, verbal and oral communication and facilitation skills in Nepali and English a must 
  • Thorough understanding of gender and social inclusion issues
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of MEAL methods and processes and of project cycle management
  • Ability to work in diverse team and environment with short deadlines and intense pressure

  • Experience of managing / implementing project funded by ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations)
  • An understanding and knowledge on resilience and how it relates to climate change , DRR and humanitarian assistance
