We are looking to hire “Associate Engineer” who will have strong passion and will to give their time and effort to the cause of providing equitable access to technology to remote communities of Nepal.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in IT or 3 years of equivalent experience
Good knowledge of system and network administration tasks
Experience in conducting trainings will be highly desirable
Job requires travelling outside Kathmandu with multiple days of stay on remote villages. You should also be prepared to be stationed on the villages outside of Kathmandu valley.
Skill in any programming language like python, java, php will be an added advantage
Knowledge and experience in open-source platforms and software
Working knowledge in simple electrical and electronic circuits
Exposure to physical computing, Raspberry Pi, Arduino etc.
Responsibilities:
Research and install learning apps for kids and community on the tablets and computers
Complete system administration duties to keep computers and tablets updated and follow best security practices to keep them off viruses and malwares.
Develop standard curriculum and run training sessions in basic computer and tablets usage.
Configure Internet routers and networking and troubleshoot Internet connection problems
Deploy monitoring and data gathering tools and apps, create software to present data in web dashboards
Run DIY sessions on physical computing using sensors and microcontrollers (Raspberry PI, Arduino etc)
Run trainings on visual and block-based beginner programming like Scratch
Demonstrate and guide the community to install solar and simple electrical systems
Develop periodic detail reporting formats and submit them
Lead technical team for the hub builds.
Engage in activities to provide equitable access of technology to remote communities
