Job Description

Major Roles and Responsibilities: 

Functions:

To serve as the Project Leader (Farming) in Kathmandu/Lamjung for Slisha WAWCAS in accordance to Slisha's objectives, policies and procedures. 

Support, train, supervise and coordinate TA and WAWCAS farming groups to develop and maintain accountability in the program. As a member of Slisha's WAWCAS team, this position will closely work with  TA farming, TLs and LPLs,  and interact with  PM, FO and PD to promote consistency throughout the program 

Major Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Overall management of  farming project :
  • Setting up, training and developing the women cooperatives on livestock and agriculture farming.
  • Identify locations for the learning centers and slaughter house. 
  • Designing and Estimation of costs for the farms.
  • Description of the needed materials and its sourcing.
  • Support TA and the women in deciding which animals and how many pr. women. 
  • Monitor and supervise the overall farming project: 
  • Description of a plan for the construction process of the farms.
  • Lead and define the process of developing the learning centers (who makes what)and make sure the team is fully aligned. 
  • Prepare monthly reports in English. 
  • Prepare the program's annual budget, including currency calculations, in Excel. 
  • Support, assist and monitor the construction and implementation of the WAWCAS Farming Learning Centre and single farms in a community:
  • Make step by step plan for the construction process of the farms.
  • Support TA and the women in arrangement of required materials for construction. 
  • Initiate Construction.
  • Continuous Supervision. 
  • Quality Control of the construction and the animals.
  • Support completion of Construction process.
  • Provide training to the women together with TA on Fodder / Shed and Operation Management.
  • Coordination and networking:
  • Establish and maintain close working relationship with GOs/NGOs/Private sectors that are active in promotion of faming, livestock skills, training and related activities.
  • Build WAWCAS farming as a business for the women and assist in identifying local sales channels.
  • Connect our WAWCAS groups to DLSO and other likeminded organizations. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Establish strategic linkages with relevant organizations and enterprise development.
  • Technical and managerial competences in assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong ability to develop, manage and monitor budgets. 
  • Practical knowledge of the market and business situation and are able to facilitate market linkages of the group.
  • Well versed with the Government rules and regulations related to livestock.
  • Proficient in English and Nepali, spoken and written.
  • Seek the opportunities and have an optimistic mindset and a go-getter attitude and able to create solutions.
  • Understand the socio economic situation and constraints of the target groups.
  • Skills and techniques in facilitating women's group of minimum 25 persons.
  • Basic understanding and sensitivity to issues associated with poverty, hunger and the environment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of honesty and integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Motivated to work responsibly with little supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to cooperate effectively and harmoniously with various groups and like-minded organizations. 
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, both local and national. This is a Lamjung based position and requires over 70% of time to be spent in the field. 
  • Ability to participate and contribute to a spirit of unity, teamwork and cooperation.
  • Sensitivity in working with multiple cultures and beliefs, and to gender equity
