Karuna Foundation Nepal (KFN) is a Nepali Non-Governmental Organization which aims to prevent avoidable disabilities among children and improve quality of lives of children and adults with disabilities, developing evidence based scalable community models.

It has been working in disability prevention and community based rehabilitation in Nepal since 2007.

Contract type: Fixed term contract with three months of probation period

Program Background:

Inspire2Care Program is a community-based model of inclusive development implemented in direct partnership with provincial and local governments. The goal of the program is to prevent avoidable disabilities and improve quality of life of children and adults with disabilities and their families through community-based rehabilitation. It works to strengthen community support systems for the achievement of these goals.

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Science/Occupational Therapy or other rehabilitation related subjects with at least 3 years of  experience in program  focusing on Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) and disability management

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced computer skills specifically in Microsoft Office Package - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and fluency in Nepali and English
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Good knowledge about CBR matrix and inclusive community development.
  • Counselling skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and fluency in Nepali and English
  • Ability to work under pressure

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage implementation of CBR works in Province No. 1.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to district level CBR Officers
  • Build capacity of CBR-facilitators through short-term training on CBR management and on-site training in collaboration with Training and Leadership Development Section

Planning

  • Develop clear monthly, quarterly and yearly work plan for CBR component of the program
  • Ensure rehabilitation plan has been developed for all the identified persons with disabilities.

Implementation

  • Provide technical support for assessment of persons with disabilities in program area
  • Support the district teams for implementation of CBR program
  • Ensure that necessary available intervention is provided to children and adults with disabilities in program areas.

Monitoring and Supervision 

  • Monitor and supervise district CBR officers and provide constructive feedback
  • Monitor and document the changes in Quality of Life (QoL) children and adults with disabilities of program areas
  •  Support Monitoring and Evaluation section in monitoring CBR works with clear indicators and provide feedback

Coordination and Communication

  • Coordinate and make linkage with major partners and stakeholders on CBR and disability: Leprosy Control Division, Ministry of Social Welfare, RCRD, CBR Biratnagar, HRDC, National CBR program
  • Coordinate with government and non-government organizations working in disability to share knowledge and work and to create synergy in outcomes

Reporting and Documentation

  • Record, report and document the progress of CBR component of the program
  • Ensure timely submission of plan and report of CBR component to Deputy Director
