It has been working in disability prevention and community based rehabilitation in Nepal since 2007.

Program Background:

Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program is a community-based model of inclusive development implemented in direct partnership with the provincial government of Province No.1 and local governments. The goal of the program is to prevent avoidable disabilities and improve quality of life of children and adults with disabilities and their families through community-based rehabilitation. It works to strengthen community support systems for the achievement of these goals.

Required qualifications and experiences:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health from recognized institution with minimum 3 years of work experience in maternal and child health programs

Skills and Abilities

  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Advanced computer skills specifically in Microsoft Office Package - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills and fluency in Nepali and English
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, communicate and negotiate with a wide range stakeholder
  • Good knowledge of project cycle management and development
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative
  • Should have valid Two Wheeler License 

Responsibilities

Responsibility 1: Leadership and Management

  • Provide required support for effective management of Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program focused on prevention of avoidable disability. 
  • Provide necessary guidance and technical support to enhance the capacity of district team of Karuna Foundation. 
  • Develop program implementation guideline, manual and protocol in support of Executive Director, Deputy Director and M&E Manager

Responsibility 2: Planning 

  • Collect annual and quarterly plan from the district offices and compile them on regular basis.
  • Develop annual and periodic plan of Karuna Foundation Nepal.
  • Provide support to the district team of Karuna Foundation Nepal to develop annual and periodic plan of local levels. 
  • Submit annual and quarterly plan to Executive Director and Deputy Director within time frame.

Responsibility 3: Implementation

  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of planned activities in the program districts. 
  • Provide necessary support and guidance to the district team for implementation of the plan.
  • Organize review meetings as per the policy of the organization. 
  • Make proper record and documentation of information and data received from district offices.
  • Facilitate and participate in the survey/research activities of the program in working areas.
  • Participate in local level review meetings. 

Responsibility 4: Monitoring and Supervision

  • Monitor and supervise the program with indicators and provide constructive feedback to the district team
  • Monitor plan versus achievement of the activities in regular basis. 
  • Involve all the stakeholders in monitoring in regular basis.
  • Ensure financial resources are properly utilized in the program.

Responsibility 5: Coordination and Communication

  • Act as focal person for replication of Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program. 
  • Work in close coordination with district team. 
  • Coordinate and establish networking with like-minded organizations working in the province.
  • Maintain close coordination with other concern stakeholders for effective result of the program
  • Maintain close coordination with Social Development Ministry and other line agencies of province government.  
  • Represent Karuna Foundation Nepal in public forum as and when needed

Responsibility 6: Reporting and documentation

  • Ensure the proper and timely reporting received of reports from the field offices
  • Collect annual and quarterly report from the district offices and prepare compiled quarterly and yearly report of Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program.
  • Prepare periodic reports (weekly, quarterly and annual) as per the requirement of the organization and funding agency
  • Share progress, challenges and learning to SMT members in monthly basis
  • Ensure timely submission of plan and progress report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Section in Central Office, Kathmandu
  • Keep updated documentation of project activities and achievements, challenges, lesson learnt 

Responsibility 7: Other

  • Work in close contact with supervisor and team members
  • Coordinate with all KFN staffs, sections, and departments as and when necessary
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

  • Periodic visits to field offices and project areas as and when required
