BACKGROUND 

DCRL is aiming to restore degraded land in the project area in order to restore functional integrity  of lower Dudhkoshi watershed and its ecosystem benefits. Using watersheds as organizing units  for planning and implementation of natural resource management and resilient livelihood  development is an approach to effectively tackle an immediate and long-term climate risk  reduction issues, in relation to floods and droughts. Taking watershed management concerns into  consideration GON/UNDP is implementing “Developing climate resilient livelihoods in the  vulnerable watershed in Nepal” in Dudhkoshi watershed (area 844 sq.km, beneficiaries 121,606  people) covering total 8 local government units (Palikas) of Khotang and Okhaldhunga. The  project mainly aims to address climate change induced hazards, introducing and scaling up  integrated adaptive watershed management practices. The project has two outcomes:

• Integrated Watershed Management Framework has been established to address climate  change induced floods and draughts, and  
• Integrated Watershed Management Practices introduced and scaled up in Lower Developing Climate Resilient Livelihoods in the Vulnerable Watershed in Nepal Dudhkoshi watershed area. 

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT  

The key objective of the assignment is to support implementation of various capacity building  activities in the field as per DCRL work plan, their monitoring, quality assurance and reporting. The specific objectives includes:

• Identify the participants for various training events as per the project work-plan;
• Prepare activity calendar on capacity development activities and finalize contents of  different training; 
• Organize, supervise and reporting of the capacity building events. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE 

The proposing consultant/Officer must have the following qualification and experiences: 

• At least completed Bachelors in Agriculture Science with over 5 years work experience or  Masters in Agriculture Science with over 3 years work experience in Agriculture promotion,  conservation farming and agro-forestry, climate smart agriculture etc with special focus on  capacity building. 
• Prior working experience with GoN, UN agencies and/or INGOs is an asset 
• Proven experience in planning, implementation, supervision, quality assurance and reporting  of at least 10 numbers of similar training events
• Familiar with climate change issues, and demonstrate ability to conduct capacity building  activities especially for rural farmers of remote areas 
• Proven expertise and experience in the field of GESI mainstreaming in climate change, and  conservation farming and livelihoods. 
• Women, person with disability and other marginalized group will be an additional advantage
