Job Title: Veterinarian
Designation: Veterinarian
Reports to: Deputy Managing Director
Location: Chamardhap, Jhapa, Nepal

Position Overview:

The veterinarian shall be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to cattle and ensuring their health and welfare. The ideal candidate will require extensive knowledge and experience in the field of cattle health and management.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular health checks and physical exams on cattle and provide medical treatment as necessary.
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in cattle, using a variety of diagnostic tools and medical treatments.
  • Administer vaccines and medications to cattle according to a schedule or as needed.
  • Advise farm staff on proper animal care and husbandry practices, including nutrition, sanitation, and disease prevention.
  • Manage cattle health programs, including vaccination schedules, parasite control, and disease surveillance.
  • Conduct post-mortem examinations and diagnostic tests to investigate disease outbreaks or deaths.
  • Maintain accurate records of medical treatments, vaccinations, and herd health.
  • Participate in emergency response situations, such as natural disasters or disease outbreaks.
  • Communicate with farm owners and managers on animal health issues and treatment plans.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine and animal health and share knowledge with colleagues and farm staff.

Skills and Qualifications

Task Related Skills and Certifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a veterinarian specializing in cattle.
  • Knowledge of cattle health and management practices, including nutrition, sanitation, and disease prevention.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions in cattle.
