LOOM works towards harnessing the collective power of women through multi-generational activism, where activists across ages and experiences connect, organise and transform the structures that obstruct our equality. We are a group of individuals and organisations dedicated to movement building, young women’s leadership, sexuality and bodily integrity, LBTQ rights, and feminist politics of the internet.

We aim to bridge feminist leadership and collectives of women’s rights activists and between activists for learning and support, solidarity and sustainability;

Engage in Feminist Epistemologies as a process to collectively produce new and diverse knowledge that dismantles patriarchy, challenges the status quo and sets new agendas;

Advocate for recognition of sexuality as bodily autonomy and human rights rather than prevention of diseases and

Engage with the internet as a political space; we recognise that online violence is a manifestation of offline violence and we build and promote a digital movement that addresses such phenomena.

Job Description

Project Leader (Communications) 

Job Title: Project Leader (Radio producers video lab workshop) 

Scope of work
This position is open for senior media experts with expertise in community level participatory video, documentary film, photography. 

The project leader will be responsible to conduct a study, followed by designing and implementing a visual media training project for community radio professionals. The leader with his/her expertise will work in line with LOOM’s communication strategy which prioritizes feminist technology. The project’s goal is to enable community radio stations to incorporate video transmission alongside radio broadcast. The leader will oversee this process from start to finish, concluding with the creation of video units with creation of substantial content for initial broadcast.  

The applicant will work together with a small team of media experts and logistic staffs with full control over the project. Applicant is required to follow through a full project process of design, implementation and evaluation within a short period of time, prior experience is key.  

 Roles and responsibilities  

  • Conduct a study research on current status of community radio station’s in Nepal
  • Evaluate barriers and opportunities for sustainable operation on radio stations based on available skills and resources
  • Design a collaboratory project between LOOM and selected partner radio’s in support of strengthening existing possibilities for sustainability of Radio stations
  • Propose a modality based on the incorporation of video content creation and streaming for sustainability of radio stations
  • Identify potential partner stations for LOOM’s collaboration based on strategic priorities of LOOM and suggestions presented by the study
  • Design a minimum 4-month training for radio media producers with complete module breakdown. 
  • Provide training to selected participants
  • Identify and call supportive individuals and organisations as further support for the training program. 
  • Oversee the development of specialized video units at selected partner stations
  • Help partner stations formulate communications strategy including the incorporation of video as their outreach medium’s
  • Produce over 25 short films at partner stations
