Established in 2078 BS in Kathmandu, this umbrella organization comprises a diverse group with varying academic and cultural backgrounds, all dedicated to leveraging the tools of the right to information for societal betterment.

With a visionary outlook aiming for an & quot ;Equitable, Just, Accountable, and Transparent Governance System,& quot; RTI-Federation has set forth a mission to build robust networks of organizations and individuals. Their objectives include fighting against corruption, bribery, and the misuse of public resources. The federation seeks to cultivate RTI campaigners at the local level to expose corruption with evidence, halt monopolies, and support media in eradicating misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech. Additionally, it endeavors to promote community awareness, particularly among youth, women, dalits, indigenous, and other minority groups, through collaborative planning, community action, and policy advocacy.

As a testament to its reach and impact, RTI-Federation boasts 14 institutional members, eight provincial committees, 77 district committees, and local committees in select palikas. The organization recently achieved significant milestones with the successful completion of its first national summit and general assembly in Kathmandu. Noteworthy initiatives include youth awareness campaigns in 10 colleges, a seven-week community awareness campaign, and a three-day training of trainers focused on behavioral RTI practice. Furthermore, the federation has actively engaged in coordination meetings with various public authorities, striving to create an amiable environment conducive to access to information. In essence, RTI-Federation stands at the forefront of the fight for transparency, accountability, and the right to information in Nepal, uniting diverse stakeholders under a common banner for the collective betterment of society.

Goal:

To engage citizen and their institutions to develop amiable environment in access to information for equitable, just and transparent governance system in Nepal

Mission:

  •  Building strong networks of likeminded organizations and individuals to fight against corruption, bribery and misuse of public resources.
  • Develop RTI campaigners in each local level to expose corruption with evidence, to stop monopoly and curtailing and supporting media to eradicate misinformation and disinformation and hate speech.
  •  To promote community awareness for accountable and transparent public service providers on issues of right to information, particularly, among the youth, women, dalits, indigenous, and other minority groups through collaborative planning, community action, and policy advocacy.


Objectives:

  • To advocate and lobby for policy reform and reinforcement for access to information
  • To launch civic education and awareness campaign for women, youth and marginalized community.
  • To monitor compliances of RTI act in public service institutions for betterment
  • To support in litigation and legal support to the practitioners
  • To capacitate member organizations and individuals
  • To collaborate with national and international likeminded institutions .

Purpose of position:

This position is generated for Promoting Sustainable Access to Information Project supported by The Asia Foundation (USAID/TAF), which is going to be implemented in Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, as regal staff for 7 months (with the possibility of extension) of time. Main purpose of this position is to offer overall charge of day to day work for the effective implementation of the project. Some specific objectives of this position are as follow:

  • To run the program activity in the planed way in coordination with donor and stakeholder.
  • To fulfill the compliance of donor and government of Nepal,
  • To accomplish all the activities in the project with best result.

Type of position:

This position is regular and full time position which will be extended on the basis of result found from the performance evaluation and job satisfaction survey. Fringe and benefits will be provided as per the organization rule, regulation and condition of the project.

Detail Job description:

Job Title: Project Officer (PO)

Job Type: Full time staff

Level of position: 6

Location: Field based

Salary: 40000 Plus

Duration: 7 month with possibility of extension

Selection criteria:    Short list, written test, interview, debarment checking and reference checking

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support to make event plan, monthly plan and quarterly plan to the project coordinator.
  • Execute the field activities in coordination with project coordinator, finance officer and local stakeholders,
  • Facilitate local coordination meeting and get project approval from the provincial and local governments,
  • Support to identify the participants of the local training,
  • Coordination with local governments and media and member organization for effective project implementation
  • Support in documentation of the local activities,
  • Support to conduct social audit, internal audit of the organization,
  • Support to develop media contents of the project activities to share in social media and website ,
  • Support to develop monthly and quarterly report of the organization,

Skill, Experience and Education:

Skills:

  • Proven ability to work with diverse and multidisciplinary teams and in communities,
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skill,
  • Strong management, networking and coordination skill,
  • Effective communication and presentation skill,
  • Effective massage development and writing skill.
  • Skill of Maithli, Abadi and other local languages

Experience:

  • At least five years of work experience in the theme of local governance; specially transparency, accountability and right to information,
  • Experience of working in building relationships with local and provincial governments,
  • Having working experience in the similar post with in-depth knowledge in coordination, social mobilization, advocacy, networking, team building, planning
  • process, people participation, RTI, proactive disclosure, public service oversight, participatory policy process etc.,

Qualification:

  • Minimum diploma in any social subject (academic certificate)
  • Mentally and physically fitted to work (Medical certificate)
  • In-depth knowledge in local governance, public service oversight (experience certificate and reference check)

Note:

  • Women from Madhesi, Muslim, Dalit and Janajati will be given special priority.
  • LGBTIQ community are highly encouraged
