OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT The purpose of the consultancy assignment is to "enhance the capacity of professionals and organizations involved in climate change mitigation efforts by providing comprehensive training on carbon market project development and documentation. Through this program, participants will gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively navigate carbon market mechanisms and contribute to sustainable development initiatives in Nepal”.
The specific objectives of this assignment are:
- To provide participants with a deep understanding of carbon market fundamentals, including the principles of carbon trading, emission reduction mechanisms, and market dynamics, enabling them to comprehend the intricacies of carbon market mechanisms.
- To equip participants with practical skills and methodologies for identifying, developing, and evaluating carbon market projects tailored to the unique socio-economic and environmental context of Nepal, fostering their ability to effectively contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.
- To train participants in conducting robust carbon accounting and verification processes, ensuring accuracy and transparency in quantifying emissions reductions and facilitating the successful implementation of carbon market projects in compliance with international standards.
- To enhance participants' capacity to navigate regulatory frameworks and engage with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, and community organizations, to facilitate the seamless integration of carbon market initiatives into national climate change mitigation strategies.
- To empower participants with effective communication strategies to disseminate project impacts, engage with stakeholders, and mobilize support for carbon market initiatives, thereby amplifying the broader impact of their contributions to sustainable development in Nepal.
