Job Description

Sahara Nepal, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International Nepal, is implementing a Safe Shelter Program in various Rural/Municipalities of Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, and Udayapur districts. Sahara Nepal seeks an application from competitive and dynamic candidates for the position of Project Coordinator which shall be based in Jhapa with frequent field visits.

Required Academic Qualification, Experience and Training: MBA, Master Degree in Social Science or M.SC. in Construction Management/Engineering. or Bachelor’s Degree in similar disciplines with 12 years of progressive experience in infrastructure project design, delivery and implementation.  

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good knowledge on designing, implementing and supervising construction-related activities. Carefully execute the detailed designs and BOQ of Safe Shelter, inclusive WASH facilities and ensure the timely construction with quality standards, accuracy of survey and within estimated budget, establish operational and maintenance protocols. 
  • Preparation and implementation of detail Project Implementation Plan and review the same periodically.
  • Ensure the proper management, utilization, and control of project activities as of project agreement and allocated budget.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Local Government(s) and other non-government humanitarian organizations.
  • Coordinate with community leaders for the family selection process, lobbying with government officials to leverage the resources and make the government accountable.
  • Consult, coordinate, communicate and collaborate with local government(s), federal government for leverage and equitable investment in community housing construction projects.
  • Ensuring the quality of works at sites are as per the drawings and the engineering norms & standards.
  • Excellent written communication skills with clear and concise reporting style.
  • Experience of project management; specially in community housing construction project.
  • Familiar with government policies/guidelines related to safe shelter.
  • Knowledge on procurement and quality control.
  • Sensitivity towards the issues of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI).
  • Skill of motivating communities and resolving technical related issues, community issues at project sites.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted by applicable national and international laws.
  • Periodic review program/financial/administrative manual/procedure and policy and update as per need.
  • Excellent ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize and implement multiple tasks within strict deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a methodical approach to work.
