Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) is established at 2054 (1998) adopting the values of the fundamental rights and responsibilities provided by the constitution of Nepal in order to support Women with Disabilities (WWDs) to pursue their rights, and provide them protection and livelihood support. Unless WWDs from all sections of the Nepalese community get understanding of their human rights, particularly as ensured by the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and exercise them, their lives will not be bright and prosperous. Thus, NDWA promotes the program to build the capacity of the WWDs living in both urban and remote areas of the country in order to make them capable and empowered so that they will be able to take initiative to exercise their rights. It is vital to empower women from other disadvantaged communities such as women with disabilities from Dalit and Madhesi to build their self- esteem and confidence. In this context, NDWA has an important role to advocate on the issues of WWDs, such as rights to education, health, employment, rehabilitation and social security. 

NDWA is looking for experienced and highly qualified Nepali candidate to lead the Action for Justice (A4J) aiming to work on "Violence against women with disabilities" and its mission. The project has been funded by CBM Global Disability Inclusion Nepal. Position: Project Coordinator - GBV Programme
Work location: Kathmandu district with 50% of travel to project sites.
Report To: General Secretary
Duration: 4 years (annual contract renewal)

JOB OVERVIEW and CORE PURPOSE

The Project Coordinator oversees Action for Justice project in Kathmandu district of Bagmati Province. Project coordinator will be prime responsible to spearhead the leadership and technical guidance for the gender and disabilities perspective in and across the program component. The project is to reduce gender-based violence (GBV) against women with disabilities. To attain this goal, the project will adopt a dual-pronged approach. On one hand, it will focus on empowering both organization of person with disabilities (OPDs) and women with disabilities to raise their voices against GBV. On the other hand, it will endeavor to enhance the protection and justice systems, as well as the behavior of those responsible for upholding these systems and the pertinent stakeholders.

The Project Coordinator will closely work with GBV Community Campaigner, Monitoring, Media and documentation Officer to maintain synergy in approaches and policy discourse at different levels in regard to gender and social Inclusion from the perspectives of women and girls with disabilities in Municipally and federal level.

S/he will provide overall leadership and supervision in project implementation, ensuring the donor compliances, documentation of the project outcomes, monitoring, evaluation and learning. S/he will manage the Programme team and build their capacity for effective management of the project portfolio.

S/he will develop and maintain effective and authentic collaboration and works in close collaboration with funding agency, technical team/section, executive board to ensure effective delivery of our project and organization strategy; and maintains high standards and quality. s/he provides support to strengthen the organizational capacity & expertise to the NDWA executive management.

Major Responsibilities and Tasks:

Programme management and ensuring the compliance

  • Lead the project implementation as a first contact person of NDWA for the project as well as for CBM Global Nepal
  • Provide overall leadership in project cycle management. Supervise development and execution of project implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation process, ensuring the programmatic and financial compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with CBM's s project management guidelines, financial procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the high standard documentation and knowledge sharing and in collaboration with Monitoring, media & documentation officer aligning with NDWA and CBM Global standards and protocol.
  • Support learning dissemination, and documentation of good practice cases.
  • Foster a culture of learning and accountability through inclusive monitoring, evaluation, feedback, and learning practices within projects.
  • Work closely with the Finance Unit to ensure that programme and financial compliance, including project planning, budgeting and implementation go together.
  • Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and training sessions with project stakeholders to review progress, address challenges, and foster collaboration.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction to project staff and ensure effective team coordination and communication.

Project Team Management:

  • Lead and supervise project team.
  • Clearly articulate a compelling vision and direction for the team and inspire and support the team towards achieving the vision of the organization.
  • Build team performance against established targets through real-time feedback, support, coaching and mentoring.
  • Facilitate performance management, JD updates, leave plan, monthly plan and timesheet, field visit, etc. of the project team members.
  • Promote a culture of learning and support to identify professional development opportunities or capacity building
  • Work closely with project team to develop project work plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment with project objectives and donor requirements.

Communication and collaboration:

  • Liaise with CBMG's representatives, providing updates on project implementation, financial management, and reporting.
  • Coordinate donor visits or external visits to project.
  • Coordinate with Local OPD (organizations of persons with disabilities organization), Municipality, Disability Coordination Committee, women rights organizations to ensure effective implementation of project activities, including the compilation of reports and data collection.
  • Support the development and dissemination of project materials, including reports, publications, and behavior change communication materials.
  • Represent at meetings, conferences, and events related to the NDWA's project, as required.
  • To advocate NDWA’s cause/goals at all levels as when possible
  • Establish and efficiently manage the electronic filing system.
  • Support the information sharing among district chapter's offices and executive board.
  • Co-ordinate with different women's network, government agencies, and civil society on behalf of the project, and also the organization.

Safety and Security

  • Ensure safety & security during project implementation in collaboration with Safety and Security focal person of NDWA.

Safeguarding

  • Accountable for ensuring that all children and adults who come into contact with the project are safeguarded to the greatest extent possible.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to all aspects of the organizational Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures.
  • Promote safeguarding among project teams and ensure safeguarding is embedded in all stages of project cycle management.

Qualifications, Experiences and Key Competencies:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in social science, women studies, Gender Studies or other relevant subject with significant working experiences of more than 5 years in applying gender analysis.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES & SKILLS

  • Knowledge & experience of Gender Based Violence, Intersectional issues, Disability and social inclusion issues from disability perspectives is prefer.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a project management and related field,
  • Gender sensitive, responsive and experience in gender and inclusion mainstreaming from the perspective of women/girls with disabilities.
  • Proven ability to think analytically and critically and able to translate ideas into action.
  • Experience in conducting or other involvement gender-based analysis, including community led participatory assessment/analysis.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership and ability to facilitate change in the organisation.
  • Demonstrated skills in building collaboration and work with government institutions and other relevant stakeholders to design and implement gender and social inclusion strategies and action plans.
  • Well organized with the ability to work on multiple priorities
  • Proactive, focused and result oriented.
  • People management and capacity building skills
  • Excellent skills in capacity strengthening of organization and individual in GBV issues.
  • Good experience in facilitating training for diverse target groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitation, communication, negotiation and networking.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexible approach to work demands.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Nepali languages.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel, PowerPoint).
