Relief Nepal is a non-profit making, non-governmental, non-political, social development organization of Sindhuli district. It was established in 2008 AD with the core objective of vulnerable and marginalized people especially women, children, youth and people living with marginalized condition are empowerment and participated in decision process about the issue affecting their livelihood. It has successfully implemented Livelihood, Child Rights, WASH, Education and DRR projects in five districts. In partnership with World Vision International Nepal (WVIN), Relief Nepal is implementing Integrated Protection Community Engagement and Sponsorship Plan (P-CESP) in Tinpatan, Golanjor and Phikkal Rural Municipality of Sindhuli district. We are looking for a qualified, competent, dynamic, Leadership and visionaryqualitative candidates for the effective execution of the project at field which will be carried out in partnership with World Vision International Nepal for the following position:

Relief Nepal is currently accepting applications for volunteering for its School Rebuilding Program.

ABOUT SCHOOL REBUILDING PROGRAMME

Our School Rebuilding program is funded by U.S based non-profit organization- All Hands and Hearts and the program location is in Sindhuli District. 

Project Duration: December 2022 - May 2023

Interested applicants should be willing to give time-commitment of at least 2 weeks in the given project duration.

 Please note that this is a voluntary position and not a paid position.

Our goal is for volunteers to have an impactful and positive experience on the program. With that said, please know that life on a program can be difficult. Please familiarize yourself with all the information given below to set a realistic expectation of what life on this program will look like.

Work Activities

The work on site includes debris removal, minor excavation work, material transportation, rebar bending, foundation digging, mixing mortar and concrete, building forms for concrete pours and finishing touches like painting and trim work. The start of the program may include some project ramp up work, and the end of program will include some program ramp down activities.

Accommodations and Facilities

Base is where you will live, eat and play during your time on the program. It will be Coed dorm style communal living with bunk beds or tents set up in open spaces. 

Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided on every working day. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated, but those with specific dietary needs will need to supplement meals as needed.

Typical Workday

A typical workday will start around 6:00 AM. Once you are awake and full of breakfast, you will head to the worksite around 7:30 AM where you’ll stay until around 4:00 PM. Once back on base, you’ll have a nightly meeting around 5:00 PM and have dinner and some free time. Work Days: Sunday - Friday; Saturdays off.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Volunteers must be 18 years of age or above.
  • Volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 
  • Willing to give time commitment of at least 2 weeks in the program.
  • Ability to work in rural areas.
  • Willingness to work with people from different backgrounds and nationalities.
  • Basic verbal English language skills.
