Position overview: Vice Principal (VP) is a member of the College Management Team (CMT), which is the highest-level committee of the college operations. VP is responsible for leading and oversight of overall functions, both academic and operations, of “Kathford’s Block B”. The position holder is further responsible for supervision and support on all aspects of program operations management, teaching and learning, general administration, human resource management, and networking.

Qualifications: 

Required 

  • University Masters’ degree in Business Administration/Engineering/IT/Education or equivalent
  • Professional experience in college/university in the areas of academic administration/general administration/operations/teaching and learning management
  • Strong knowledge of teaching and learning/curriculum/pedagogy, academic planning, budgetary, supervising, and human resource management skills
  • Good knowledge of University program policies and processes, student’s academic cycle, Government policies in education
  • Prior experience of leadership and supervisory roles
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills – email communication/scheduling, office applications

Preferred 

  • Prior work experience in University/college (with teachers, administrators and Universities/board)
  • Successful in working and building relationships with team 
  • Require nominal direction, and work well independently and in a team
  • Skills to coordinate/collaborate with multiple departments/sections/units
  • Effectiveness in working on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
  • Proven track record of achieving results
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and take self-initiative
  • Pro-active and problem-solving attitude/abilities and inspire others with the same 
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and strong professional ethics

Other Specification:

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in same role
  • Professional experience in teaching and learning, general administration/operations management
  • Prior work experience in academic institution(s)/college 
  • Unit/section under supervision: “Kathford’s Block B” comprising of Department of BBA, Department of BSc. CSIT, Department of BCA, Operations (Administration, Accounts, Human Resource), Library, Examination 
  • Reports to: Principal of the college

Key roles and responsibilities: 

1. Program Operations Management 

  • Supervise the development of academic calendar, semester operations plan/calendar and budget, and conduct periodic team review
  • Supervise the implementation of activities as per the plan and calendar, track the progress, and provide necessary inputs for completion in compliance with plan/calendar and the Finance policy 
  • Review existing Operations strategies/procedure, identify gaps in relation to plan/policies, and suggest for improvement 
  • Assess the need of teaching faculty and staff, prepare hiring plan along with JD and budget, and ensure the timely recruitment

2. Teaching and learning 

  • Support Academic Advisor and/or Head of the Department/Program Coordinators in development, review and implementation of Academic Strategy 
  • Supervise the implementation of academic inputs/recommendations provided by Academic Advisor to ensure the quality of academic activities, address the variation between design and delivery, and provide necessary support to Head of the Departments/Program Coordinators and Units in achieving plan/inputs/ recommendations 
  • Supervise the implementation of strategy and improvement action plan prescribed by the Academic Advisor developed based on the assessment results to improve the knowledge and skills of students and provide necessary support to Academic Advisor and/or Head of the Departments/Program Coordinators for the timely completion of the action plan/strategies

3. Human Resource Management 

  • Implement attendance/leave of policy and procedures staff and faculty members and ensure attendance/ leave align with policy 
  • Collaborate with Principal, Academic Advisors, and Heads of the Department/Program Coordinators to implement policies and procedure 
  • Lead the performance appraisal of non-teaching employees, and collaborate with Principal and Academic Advisors to conduct periodic performance appraisal of teachers 

4. General Administration 

  • Oversee the need of goods and services, and maintain supply-chain in line with procurement policy and procedure
  • Supervise and ensure the smooth operation and availabilities of facilities including their services and qualities in the college premises 

5. Coordination/Networking 

  • Establish relationship with University/Dean Office/departments and other line agencies to comply college functions and draw expertize 
  • Represent Kathford by attending/advocating at relevant forums for the enhancement of college’s credibility
  • Provide support to Academic Advisor/Head of Departments/Program Coordinators in developing strategies to liaise with other academic institutions and Industries

6. Meeting/Reporting 

  • Collaborate with Principal to conduct and participate in CMT meeting 
  • Participate in high-level strategic review meetings with Chairperson, Director(s), Principal, and Academic/Strategy Advisors when required 
  • Provide regular updates to Principal on overall operations of “Block B”
  • Review Section’s and Unit’s Monthly Report (Plan and Progress Update) and prepare periodic reports
