Society of the Deafblind Parents (SDBP) is organization of parents of children with Deafblindness. SDBP is committed to empower the parents work to provide quality service on daily living skills, communication and education of children with deafblindness. Deafblind is a term that is used when a person has a combination of both vision and hearing impairment. Dual sensory loss or dual sensory impairment are other terms that are used to describe deafblindness.

In coordination with National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN), SDBP is implementing the project entitled "Healthy life of people with deafblindness in Nepal" in Kathmandu and currently looking for qualified personal for the following position:

Other Specification
  • At least with 1 year of work experience in related field
  • Good understanding of deafblindness and Multi-sensory impairment. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with families
  • Ability to follow the Individual education plan (IEP)
  • Prior experience working in with organisation of persons with Disabilities will be an advantage and experience working with children with deafblindness will be given special preference
  • Preference would be given to candidates with ability to communicate in Nepali Sign language and other form of communication like braille, tactile communication etc
  • Respect to the diversity in particular to the poor marginalized, vulnerable and disability population

Job Description

  • Respect to the diversity in particular to the poor marginalized, vulnerable and disability population
  • Actively supporting a deafblind person in identifying and participating in a wide range of enjoyable, stimulating and purposeful activities that make for a goodquality of life
  • Supporter will work in close coordination with the Deafblind Educator on delivering the services to children and adults with deafblindness on day care center and home based facility
  • Looking after the Safeguarding issues of children and young adults with deafblindness on day care center
  • Coordinate with parents for developing supporting mechanism
  • Respect to the diversity in particular to the poor marginalized, vulnerable and disability population
