  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Mid to senior-level similar experience (10+ years) designing and implementing programmatic interventions, using best practices, to better reach women and other vulnerable groups;
  • Strong understanding of constraints facing women and vulnerable groups in Nepal;
  • Preferred experience in training and/or participatory instruction;
  • Preferred experience working with financial service providers on similar issues;  
  • Preferred experience with DFID frameworks and indicators;
  • Preferred experience in all regions of Nepal, with extensive experience in the Far and Mid-West Regions; and,
  • Nepalese national able to live and travel throughout Nepal.

Job Description

Project Component: Cross-Cutting
Duty Location: Kathmandu, Nepal  
Expected Start Date: March 2017

Key Responsibilities    
It is envisioned that the Gender and Vulnerable Groups Advisor will be responsible for the following overarching tasks:

  • Assess and identify current/new barriers that restrict vulnerable groups in accessing financial services and update the Gender and Inclusion Strategy;
  • Review concept notes and full applications for GESI lens
  • Provide trainings to external partners and stakeholders and internal staff on how to better reach women and other vulnerable groups (estimated to be held quarterly);
  • Develop follow-up processes for partner institutions to ensure implementation of GESI Action Plan;
  • Conduct biannual check-ins with partners on GESI Action Plan, providing technical support where needed;
  • Continually ensure interventions are tailored to meet the needs of women and other vulnerable groups;  
  • Across all outputs, contribute where needed on interventions requiring expertise in issues related to Gender and/or Vulnerable Groups; and,
  • Assume other management tasks determined by the Project Manager, Deputy Team Leader and/or the Team Leader.

Specific activities and deliverables for this position will be determined on an annual basis, per the work plan.

Reporting:
Candidate will report to Deputy Team Leader and Team Leader. In some cases, candidate may report directly to the appropriate Output Leader.
