Ability to establish positive relationships with government representatives and other key stakeholders; strong negotiation, coordination, communication and interpersonal skills. Proactive and independent approach to work with willingness to undertake additional responsibilities. Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain positive working relationships. Resourceful in resolving problems and initiating solutions. An excellent command or oral and written English and Nepali. Knowledge and experience of HIV and other relevant health programs in developing countries, especially in Asia. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding research in HIV. Familiarity with standard statistical methods in research and with qualitative research method.
The SSRS is responsible for providing technical and strategic leadership to carry out surveillance and research related work in close collaboration with key stakeholders such as NCASC, HIV Board, NHRC, WHO, GFATM PRs, UNAIDS and USAID. The SSRS will provide TA to refine and implement National HIV Surveillance Plan, provide TA to carry out IBBS surveys, provide TA for research related training and implementation, provide inputs in research methodologies and data interpretations, generate national research ideas and implementation, and lead in-depth analysis of HIV related epidemiological, research and program process data.
