Senior Project Manager

Established in 1998, BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. BBC Media Action uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people in claiming their rights, our aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world. We do this through our focus on health, governance and rights, resilience, and humanitarian response, partnering with civil society, local media and governments to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences and strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.

Proven experience as a senior manager and strong leadership skills.
Understanding and commitment to international development, including experience in the use of media for developmental goals desirable. 
Demonstrated experience in raising funds for projects and/or programmes of activity and of managing budgets.
Ability to work on own initiative and organising time effectively within a range of often conflicting deadlines.  
Capacity to juggle competing priorities and a busy programme of work while working to an agreed strategy.
The ability to think strategically and analytically.
The interpersonal skills to establish confident and effective working relationships with BBC  WST staff at a variety of levels, and with external agencies.
Proven experience of managing others in a successful and productive manner.
Ability to communicate well in English (spoken and written) and to negotiate tactfully and effectively.

Job Description

To directly support the Country Director (CD) in Nepal in delivering BBC World Service Trust's agreed objectives, timelines and budgets and ensure project outputs are achieved by the effective management of resources and processes.  This will include support to the CD in managing and overseeing the management of the office's projects, project related budgets, reporting and policy work, relationship management with partners, donors and other stake holders and assuming overall responsibility for the delivery of BBC WST projects in the absence of the Country Director.
