Helen Keller International is an international non-profit organization (INGO) working in health and nutrition in Nepal since 1989 to improve the nutritional status of women and young children through evidence-based research and programs. Helen Keller International, CARE, FHI 360, Nepali Technical Assistance Group (NTAG), Digital Broadcast Initiative Equal Access (DBIEA), Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), Vijaya Development Resource Center (VDRC) together are implementing USAID funded Suaahara II Program in 42 districts. Applications are invited from interested, committed, dynamic team players and experienced Nepali nationals for the following position:
Summary of Job [Senior Advisor Nutrition Strengthening (no.1)] Purpose:
This position will function as the key person responsible to provide high quality technical guidance and support to key activities; responsible for health systems strengthening via support to nutrition, health and family planning staff on design and implementation and providing technical support and collaboration with government counterparts and other stakeholders; provide strategic guidance on integrated nutrition to provincial and local governments; work closely with government counterparts in the Ministry of Health and Population and other relevant ministries and facilitate alignment of Suaahara II strategies with current government policies and plans including collaboration with MoHP's IHMIS section and analyze data trends for key nutrition indicators and identify priority areas for intervention; support the program team to implement Suaahara II's COVID-19 response activities in line with MoHP priorities; provide technical guidance to the development of annual workplans based on program evidence and government priorities, to ensure nutrition is integrated with FP/MNCH as well as WASH and agriculture activities and that they are integrated into local systems and operating at scale in all target districts; quality assurance of implementation of program interventions across all areas of nutrition throughout the health system, including FP/MNCH, as well as agriculture and WASH by coaching and building the technical capacity of the field teams facilitating the integration across multisector systems, and represent Suaahara Il to Nepal's public health and broader development community through the participation in conferences, workshops, and seminars, and through a range of documentation.
Educational qualifications and experiences:
At least a master's or Doctoral degree in Nutrition, Public Health or similar field; at least 7 years of national and international experience in the field of public health, working on programs of similar scope and complexity or equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated expertise in nutrition and multisector approaches, including work within Government health systems, other relevant technical areas: public health, FP/MNCH, water/sanitation/hygiene, agriculture/household food production, behavior change communications, capacity building, applied monitoring, evaluation, and research; demonstrated success in delivering technical assistance, working in collaboration with governments and partner organizations; excellent written and speaking in Nepali and English skills; other local languages an advantage; strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in teams and cross-cultural settings; excellent capacity building, team building/management, and coordination skills; an ability to delegate responsibilities effectively and coach and mentor staff; and an ability to work in challenging and changing environments, to find solutions to emerging challenges, and maintain balance when under stress.
