Job Description

Department: Finance and Accounts

The post holder is responsible for corporate commercial accounting wherein s/he performs professional level accounting work necessary in the preparation, review and update of financial records, at all times, ensuring compliance to/with statutory requirements as per Government Laws, Nepal Accounting Standards and GAAP.

  • Responsible for knowing critical functions within the department and capable of mentoring and assisting employees within the department.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Assures compliance with local and corporate policies, regulations and laws.
  • Reviews accounts payables and weekly check runs.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Responsible for distributing financial statements and cost reports.
  • Prepares work papers and supporting schedules for the annual financial review.
  • Prepare monthly comparison reports and reports according to schedules
  • Prepares financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Analyze transactional processes and identify areas where additional accuracies and efficiencies can be achieved.
  • Adheres to internal and external deadlines.
  • Applies cost accounting methods to achieve accurate representation of performance.
  • Work with both internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
  • Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets.
  • Maintenance of the proper books of accounts and the records of the company like balance sheet, profit and loss account and maintenance of all other financial activities of the organization.
  • Planning budgets, performing cost analyses, preparing cash flows and reviewing purchase orders, invoices, and supplier contracts.
  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Review and analyze capitalization of costs. Ensure compliance with policy.
  • Focus on tax compliance, state business registration, contract review, and non-profit tax filing.
  • Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
  • Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the budget.
  • Coordinate with accounting system software developer.
  • Cooperating with the Director/ Project In-charge to develop a detailed, cost-effective budget for the project.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned. 
  • Create and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation
  • Monitor and maintain a new audit system by implementing new policies and procedures in the finance department
  • Manage process for proper coding of service invoices (payment applications) and lien releases for contractor and vendor invoices. Maintain contract documents including records of lien releases in appropriate files.
  • Is responsible for maintaining good working relation with IRD and all its affiliates, Departments etc.
  • Analyzing past expenses VS budgets and prepare annual budget etc.
  • Report, analyze, and ensure integrity of all financial information.
  • Staff management and development.
