Job Description

  • Play a major role in the college middle management assisting the HOD’s in creating a vision, sense of purpose and pride about the Department and its work.
  • Implement school assessment and target setting policies, and make effective use of data to monitor and evaluate the achievement in the subject.
  • Contribute to the Department development plan, its implementation and the part it plays in the whole college development.
  • Develop with others comprehensive schemes of work which include a range of teaching and learning styles providing a rich experience for pupils, and incorporate a variety of assessment methods at key points to enable accurate judgements on progress
  • Knowledge of curriculum and assessment with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
  • In collaboration with the HOD’s, provides educational leadership in the college and the community by developing and promoting the college vision and encouraging teaching staff to share ownership of the college’s vision and goals;
  • Manage a programme of events and challenges to encourage student involvement, interest, creativity and participation in further study in Science.
  • To participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities.
