Job Description

  • Understand geography, distance, logistics requirements, distribution cost, planning, distributors
  • location based on population, potential, outlet universe and ease of coverage etc
  • Understand population spread across the regions of the country and analyze demographics – numbers, income, occupation
  • Understand competitive environment and activity, identify trends, provide inputs to Category Managers to identify opportunities
  • Recommend appointment and termination of distributors; source, select and set-up distributors
  • Develop and agree on annual business plans and manage distributor profitability and viability
  • Develop operational sales plan for Territories & Distributors to meet the following objectives for assigned Sales Region with regards to i. Sales target (Value); ii. Distribution- LPC, FCS etc; iii.
  • Display & Merchandising;
  • Set, monitor and ensure achievement of productivity target for the assigned Region covering: i. Productive calls per day; ii. SKUs per call; iii. Value per SKU; iv. Value per Call; v. Value per section/day
  • Monitor for achievement of target / incentive, and achievement of agreed ROI, and initiate corrective measures by Distributors & Territories
  • Monitor implementation of customer plan; review & provide timely feedback to Distributor in own Region to ensure consistent achievement of business plan, sales targets, regularity of stock lifting, cost efficient route coverage, on time deliveries, good customer relations, adequate ROI, controls etc
  • Make recommendations to improve availability, visibility, and off-take (initiatives at distributor end, activation etc.)
  • Develop key metrics to monitor implementation and efficacy of brand / channel specific activities and provide inputs to Brand Officers.
  • Propose and implement in conjunction with the ASIs / TSIs and distributors plan for (i) Sales Development (ii) Promotional activities (iii) Increasing coverage
  • Develop coverage plan for the sales area and channels/outlets to achieve the coverage targets and maintain regularity of coverage
  • Identify &; develop new channel opportunities and alternate channels / RTM
  • Drive projects to develop channels
  • Evaluate and communicate alternatives for customer for improving channel services
  • Provide development inputs on efficacy of visibility improvement initiatives
  • Ensure that basic visibility standards are maintained in all outlets
  • Monitor &; ensure effective utilization of merchandising materials to maximize return on investments made in PoP
  • Check & verify Distributors’ claims to ensure maximum return on investments made in Trade; ensure appropriate commercial controls at Distributors’ end
  • Ensure that distributors in own Region maintain the specified average stock cover
  • Ensure that distributors in own Region have adequate storage space and that the storage conditions are maintained as per company guidelines
  • Ensure proper stacking/storage of products in the Distributor premises and the outlets
  • Ensure that all distributors have the required Redistribution infrastructure
  • Advise & assist distributors on recruitment, training and evaluation of DSRs, Merchandisers
  • ADSRs and Supervisors; review performances of Distributors’ personnel and ensure appropriate remedial actions
  • Ensure optimal structuring or sizing of distributor sales force
  • Ensure implementation of distributor and outlet stock rotation (FIFO) to prevent stocks from getting out-dated/damaged
  • Ensure replacement of damaged products as per Trade Return Policy
  • Ensure appropriate of safety of personnel
  • Review performance of TSIs, provide informal & formal feedback and facilitate implementation of a remedial plan for the individual
  • Motivate and lead the team and activate relevant network to assist in achieving business objectives & implementing appropriate company guidelines.
  • Identify, plan and implement actions to assist in performance improvement of direct reports through; coaching, guidance, recommendation to training, projects etc
  • Actively discourage trade stocking of counterfeits / grey imports and report on counterfeits / grey imports
  • Maintain vigilance against all forms of unethical, illegal & unfair business practices
