Democracy Resource Center Nepal (DRCN) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to promote democracy in Nepal through observation, research and reporting on issues related to federalism, subnational governance, inclusion, democracy, politics, and election.  

Opportunity:  

DRCN is seeking application from qualified candidate for the position of Researcher for its project ‘Observation of Post-Constitution Politics and Governance (OPPG)’. Researcher requires to conduct research on federalism, subnational governance, and political and electoral processes in Nepal, and produce analytical reports on the basis of field data and information. Researcher will also observe the upcoming federal and provincial elections in Nepal.    

Scope of Work:  

  • Conduct interview with stakeholders including political party member, civil society representative, journalist, government official and citizen. 
  • Conduct media monitoring and review of relevant documents to supplement field findings. 
  • Write analytical report based on field information and secondary data.     
  • Travel to local level in assigned province, often remote area, to conduct research. 
  • Organize stakeholder interaction at provincial and local levels.  

Qualification:  

  • Minimum Bachelors’ Degree.  
  • Sound understanding of Nepali politics, governance and society.  
  • Ability to conduct research and analyze issues related to politics, governance and electoral process. 
  • Skillful in conducting interview. 
  • Ability to work individually and in team. 
  • Strong command in Nepali and English; knowledge of other languages spoken in Nepal will be an advantage.
