Job Description

Research Associate (Information Technology) is the position to oversee the entire IT components of NDRI that include the technical support to IT related daily trouble shooting and innovation being undertaken by NDRI. He/She will be working under different program coordinators and senior researchers as required and report to the Executive Director (ED) of NDRI and deliver quality outputs. The main roles and responsibilities will be to contribute to proposal development, project execution, events, publications, coordination, and enhancing external relations. Initial contract will be for one year, including two-month probation period, with the possibility of annual extension depending on candidate’s performance and availability of funds.

The specific tasks and deliverables will be as follows:

  • Scrutinize the calls for expression of interest, proposals solicited from print media, online, and random exploration, and facilitate for development of proposals related to IT and AI in coordination with the Executive Director and the respective program coordinators and senior researchers
  • Review of Policy frame and guidelines of the Government and national, international agencies and prepare Project Concept Notes in the field of IT and AI and proposals in different areas of interest of NDRI
  • Review of database on the state-of-the-art information on practices of database management, develop in presentable format and prepare reports in various formats including graphs, charts, matrix etc. as demanded by program coordinators and senior researchers
  • Lead in designing Application for data collection via tablets and in designing quality assurance and monitoring mechanism of the collected data as demanded by Projects. Knowledge of designing and using applications such as Kobo Toolbox, ODK, Survey CTO, etc. are preferable
  • Facilitate and support NDRI faculties and staff in IT related matters, support for preparing data and information in required infographic
  • Support NDRI Management for institutional capacity building for Quality Control and Quality assurance designing appropriate data repository systems and regular monitoring and compliance
  • Play instrumental role in collaborative research/training and national/international events related to IT and AI
  • Represent NDRI in various official meetings with Government and non-government agencies for collaborative research in the related fields
  • Perform other tasks by fully considering NDRI Vision, Mission, Core Values, Objectives and Focal Areas instructed by the Executive Director and/or relevant Program Coordinators and senior researchers
  • Work independently or in collaboration with service providers in developing algorithms, unplugged activities, and other innovative teaching methods and materials such as ‘sorting network’ and ‘automatic call tree (ACT)’
  • Develop ToR and protocols in selecting service providers for assignments to be outsourced. 
  • Create, manage and upgrade social media accounts of NDRI (facebook, linkedIn, twitter, instagram, whats app)
  • Assign roles and supervise Research Assistant, Admin and Finance Assistant, and Research Interns in creating IT and AI related products
