Project Officer (WASH)-1 Position

Purpose: 

The position holder will be responsible to ensure that the implementation of project activities is realized according to the country strategy and the Project objective. S/he will support the Program Coordinator- WASH and Resilience in ensuring effective and timely implementation of all project activities, with special attention to providing overall inter-agency coordination and facilitation at various levels. Similarly, s/he will ensure that the project deliverables are met on a timely and efficient manner. 

Term and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 June 2022 based in Sindhuli Field Office.

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or any relevant subject
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the area of rural water, sanitation and hygiene with WASH technical background
  • Excellent knowledge and experience on the social aspect of WASH, behavioral change communication in WASH, community-led total sanitation (CLTS) approach, Mensural Hygiene Management, WASH in School, Health Facility, institution and public place WASH facility, and child to child approach
  • Knowledge in WASH-related principles, policies, Plans, guidelines and practices
  • Knowledge on project monitoring, data analysis and report writing.
  • Excellent knowledge on civil and sanitary engineering
  • Clear understanding of the socio/political, economic and cultural issues of Nepal
  • Understanding and knowledge of the international human rights framework for development, key development issues, approaches and tools
  • Clear understanding of Gender and Inclusion
  • Basic management knowledge

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planning, implementation and regular monitoring of project deliverables at all levels
  • Maintain smooth coordination and networking with relevant government organizations and WASH and Nutrition related stakeholders at district and provincial level
  • Capacity building of partner NGOs staff on project planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Provide technical and professional support to partners on key strategies on gender transformative and nutrition sensitive WASH project implementation at rural municipality and municipality levels
  • Facilitate the process of mainstreaming gender transformative nutrition sensitiveness and Gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) into WASH interventions within working areas
  • Ensure child, gender, disability, girls/women and environment friendliness of WASH including menstrual hygiene facilities in the school, health facility, communities and institutions as per relevant norms, policies and practices
  • Ensure Plan’s child safeguarding policy, gender policy, Fraud and Bribery etc are adhered in the WASH projects implementation
  • Support to managing project issues, carryout risk assessment and analysis of all WASH projects and prepare risk register and mitigation plan
  • Support to manage project close-out and prepare end of project learning  
  • Support to identify WASH needs, collect data and prepare WASH project proposals for submission to grant funding
  • Support to initiate and conduct feasibility study and design WASH projects ensuring active participation of women and children and excluded groups
  • Engage in field implementation and ensure active participation of women, girls and children and excluded groups in the project activities
  • Collect & consolidate and review WASH related disaggregated data and information from the field and partners and review reports with the programme on monthly, quarterly and annual basis to track progress and prepare project progress reports and submit to Program Coordinator-WASH and Resilience
