About the Project: With an aim of enhancing access of children especially the girls to quality education within safe, resilient and inclusive education facilities and systems, Promoting Inclusive Safe School Project will be implemented in Makwanpur district. The project intends to directly reach 3,913 students, teachers, School Management Committee Members and Parents Teachers Association within 10 schools of the area. This is an integrated project with the components of inclusive education including school reconstruction, child protection, gender and DRR.

Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for providing leadership in coordination and overall delivery of the “Promoting Inclusive Safe School Project in Makwanpur.” The position will be part of the Program Unit team in planning, implementation, partnership management, knowledge management and reporting of the project. The role will ensure timely delivery of the project; and with highest technical quality according to the objectives and approach in the project document, grant agreement document and to the satisfaction of project stakeholders.

Term and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 November 2020 based in Hetauda Field Office.

Required qualifications and Experiences:

  • Master’s Degree in Education or Social Science, Disaster Risk Management /Risk Reduction or any relevant subject.
  • At least 4 years of work experience in project implementation and management especially for inclusive education, model inclusive classroom management, safe and child-friendly school promotion and disaster risk reduction in education.
  • Experience of working in local level education planning process i.e. school improvement plan, education plan at the village level, and district education plan and supervision of partner NGOs work in the education sector.
  • Proven experience in program development i.e. detail implementation plan, conduction of startup workshop, project budget planning, modification and monitoring, the capacity to review NGO or partner proposal and budget for better alignment with the main objectives and results of the education program.
  • Understanding of Nepal’s government education structure, Education Cluster System and District Disaster Management Committee.
  • Reporting (both program and financial) experience of grant-funded programs is preferred.
  • INGO work experience in similar work and capacity preferred.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a realistic, prioritized, results-based work plan & monthly, quarterly budget forecast
  • Periodically review the monthly/Quarterly, Annual project plan and budget and purpose for revision as and when required for effective project implementation after proper consultation
  • Effectively manage the daily project, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting (Pipeline Review, Implementation Plan). Conduct routine project needs assessments and project reviews to ensure successful implementation
  • Establish and manage partnerships including ensuring efficient utilization and timely accountability of funds and other resources allocated to implementing partners
  • Provide direct technical support and capacity building of Plan International Nepal’s field staff in program design, training development, program implementation, and developing strategic directions
  • Develop, operationalize, coordinate and monitor the annual monitoring and evaluation plan and support consortium secretariat to conduct evaluations as per need
  • Provide technical back up to project advocacy and capacity building officer to collaborate and coordinate with existing district and local level government structures and local municipality
  • Represent Plan International Nepal on Child-Centered Disaster Risk Management and Education issues at subnational, district level (key events), in relevant professional networks, alliances and sectoral clusters and use these platforms to improve Plan’s relevance, to influence externally, and to build Plan’s professional profile
  • Prepare and submit quality periodic project reports as per donor requirements and project document
  • Ensure proper and comprehensive documentation and effective record keeping for accountability purposes
  • Develop a system for knowledge management, capturing, documenting and disseminating project experiences, lesson learnt, case/success stories and best practice to stakeholders.
