About the project: Plan International Nepal is supporting in the implementation of a two-year project called “Community Support Project in Jumla,” funded by Nature Planet, a corporate partner of Plan International, Denmark National Office. The Project aims to provide safe, stimulating and child and disability friendly learning environment to the children of project funded school; promote safe delivery environment in birthing centres of targeted communities and promote awareness on safe delivery, pre-natal and ante-natal care, hygienic behavior and mother and child nutrition in targeted communities. The project will be implemented in 2 rural municipalities of Jumla district.
Purpose: The position holder will be responsible for implementation, monitoring and reporting of all activities implemented through Project. S/he will ensure high quality and timely delivery of the project according to the objectives and approach to the satisfaction of project stakeholders. S/he will also ensure construction plans within the project guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations, and that project interventions/activities implemented are at the best quality with the best value for money and meet the nationally and globally recognized standards.
Term and Location: Fixed term employment till 30 June 2019 based at Jumla Field Office
Required qualifications & experiences:
- At least Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s Degree Civil Engineering preferred
- At least 4 years of work experience in surveying, designing, structural analysis, supervising, working on construction sites and managing building construction and other development projects
- Experience in disable friendly safe infra-structure development in schools with components on school WASH, SRHR, school safety, child protection promotion
- Experience of working on maternal and child health, nutrition and social mobilization would be an added advantage
- Knowledge of inclusive education and related government plans and policies
- Good knowledge and skill in project management.
- Member of Nepal Engineering Council
- INGO work experience preferred
Key Responsibilities: - Facilitate for effective project planning, implementation and monitoring
- Prepare Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) and Project Outlines (POs) in line with approved DIP and POs
- Ensure gender equality and social inclusion perspective in the program planning and implementation cycle
- Support to establish and maintain effective linkage and coordination with local government, government offices, NGOs, community-based organizations and civil society organizations to maintain Plan’s credible image
- Manage /facilitate project implementation through a partnership based approach with NGOs and Government Organizations (GOs)
- Provide technical backstopping to project implementing partner(s)
- Support partner NGO(s), project management committees and community groups in their capacity building
- Support in strengthening mother’s groups for regular functioning.
- Coordinate with finance team to prepare rolling budget as per actual expenditure and adjust activities in coordination with NGO partner and concerned staff
- Coordinate with team members and partners to timely execute approved project activities meeting budget spending and liquidation targets
- Ensure compulsory technical support and supervision at critical phases of construction projects for quality assurance, timeliness and value for money
- Ensure timely reporting of project progress and financial reports through periodic and specific reports as per organizational and donor’s compliances
