Raleigh International Nepal (RIN) is a subsidiary of RIUK and has been working in Nepal since 2015. Our Country office is in Khumaltar, Lalitpur Nepal. Location: Country Office, Lalitpur with frequent field visit to project sites in Makwanpur and Gorkha
Salary: Based on Raleigh International Nepal Policy

About the Role

The Project Coordinator: WASH is a member of the RIN programmes team who has overall responsibility for the design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of Raleigh's Water and Sanitation Program. The Project Coordinator is responsible for all elements of the program cycle both technical and theoretical and is the content-area-expert for WASH at Raleigh.

Roles Responsibilities 

More specifically, the position will:

  • Lead and coordinate for planning, implementation and monitoring of WASH components of the programme.
  • Lead to further develop and implement WASH strategies, provide technical backstopping and capacity building support to partners, and coach and thematically support the national and international youth volunteers assigned to WASH projects.
  • Contribute to development of new proposals and relevant strategic/planning documents, linked to the assessed needs and gaps and the RIN country strategy. 
  • Provide coaching and thematic support to the national and international youth volunteers assigned to WASH projects. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Project Manager-Livelihoods, Country Operations Manager (COM), Finance & Admin Manager (FAM) and other relevant staff members of RIN and the Focal Points (FPs) of partner organizations for ensuring programmatic synergy and timely implementation. 
  • Lead in empowerment of demand side actors, in particular the right holders for enhancing the access, availability, and quality of WASH services and to hold the duty bearers on account for quality, equality, equity, and transparency. 
  • Lead in developing approaches for the promotion of enterprising activities in WASH sector and identification of private sector partners and their roles and responsibilities. 
  • Organize and facilitate workshops and training for sustainable operation and maintenance of water supply schemes, promotion of household water treatment and safe storage, total sanitation, and hygiene behavioural change, etc. and enterprises development in WASH
  • Facilitate and support implementation of public and/or social audit tools for ensuring transparency and accountability in WASH for strengthening water governance sector. 
  • Monitor implementation of activities related to WASH through regular field visits and interactions with communities, local partners, government bodies and other stakeholders. 
  • Organize periodical review and planning meetings with partner organizations in collaboration of CD and COM 
  • Document and disseminate promising approaches, technologies, guidelines and learning of the programme for advocacy and policy development.
  • Compile various reports (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual etc.) and other information related to WASH component.  
  • Facilitate and organize commissioned studies in collaboration of CD and ensure high quality of such studies. 
  • Maintain and establish cordial working relationship with various stakeholders from government, civil society and private sector at both local and district level.
  • Identify opportunities for RIN to develop new partnerships and networking with other WASH sector actors and donors. 
  • Manage the WASH programme budget and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet RIN standards with regard to financial management, compliance accountability and governance.
  • Adhere to all RIN strategies, policies, regulations, and guidelines.

Requirements 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an experience in water resources management or relevant field. 

Experience and Competencies:

  • Five years’ experience in WASH 
  • Excellent knowledge of and competencies in Strategic Planning and Project Cycle Management (PCM)
  • Experience in innovating and implementing behavior change interventions in WASH
  • Demonstrated experience in and commitment to work with and for youth
  • Sound knowledge of poverty reduction and competencies in gender and social inclusion
  • Hands on experience in coaching, counseling, and mentoring 
  • Good understanding of computer-based monitoring and information management system; proficiency in using MS office application software
  • Practical experience in planning, organization, facilitation of training and workshop
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and networking skills 
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali
  • Good interpersonal relations, good team-player, result oriented personality/ maintaining deadlines
  • Good IT proficiency and efficiency in using communication applications, drinking water system surveys & designs and infographic analysis.

Other Information

Holiday Entitlement

  • As per the RIN National Personnel Regulation, the holiday entitlement for full-time staff is 25 working days per year, plus 13 public holidays.

Office hours

  • Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Staff may be required to work longer hours at events and during busy periods, including weekends, but time can be claimed back using the Time Off In Lieu policy.
