Society of the Deafblind Parents (SDBP) is organization of parents of children with Deafblindness. SDBP is committed to empower the parents work to provide quality service on daily living skills, communication and education of children with deafblindness. Deafblind is a term that is used when a person has a combination of both vision and hearing impairment. Dual sensory loss or dual sensory impairment are other terms that are used to describe deafblindness.

In coordination with National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN), SDBP is implementing the project entitled "Healthy life of people with deafblindness in Nepal" in Kathmandu and currently looking for qualified personal for the following position:

Job Specification

Education Level : Under Graduate (Bachelor)
Experience Required : More than or equal to 1 year
Other Specification
  • At least Bachelor degree with 1 year of work experience in related field
  • Good Understanding on Disability related National (disability right act, policies, inclusive education policy, Health polices) and International laws and policies (UNCRPD, SDG) 
  • Familiar with current socio-political context and change process
  • Excellent Excel skills and MS package
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Nepali language
  • Prior experience working in with organisation of persons with Disabilities will be an advantage and experience working with children with deafblindness will be given special preference
  • Preference would be given to candidates with ability to communicate in Nepali Sign language and other form of communication like braille, tactile communication etc

Job Description

  • Respect to the diversity in particular to the poor marginalized, vulnerable and disability population
  • Project coordinator will work in close coordination with the Board to develop action plan for effective implementation of the project
  • Work to develop organisation advocacy plan in line with overall advocacy plan on deafblindness and ensure the advocacy activities are properly implemented and documented
  • Work on to conduct training on deafblindness to Health volunteers, teachers, civil society organisation and Disabled people organisation etc in Kathmandu
  • Ensure the quality of the service in the day care center in Kathmandu develop report based on the Individual educational plan (IEP)
  • Work to develop all the policies of organisation as stated in project and additional policies required for development and organisation strengthening
  • Liaison with board on searching additional funding for organisation
  • Ensure the reports are on time and are in line with the donors reporting criteria
