Action Contre la Faim (ACF) | Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization committed to ending child hunger. Recognized as a leader in the fight against malnutrition, Action Against Hunger saves the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger. With almost 40 years of expertise in emergencies, natural disasters and chronic food insecurity and currently operational in 50 countries, it started its work in Nepal from 2005. It has been operational in different parts of the country addressing undernutrition through integrated approach following the Nepal Government’s Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan. The organization was successful in bringing attention of the government, key donors, UN agencies and stakeholders to address severe acute malnutrition both in terms of treatment and prevention through Generation Nutrition Campaign where more than 39 different organizations shown their solidarity. Currently operational in 4 districts (Nawalparasi, Nuwakot, Saptari and Rasuwa), it is fighting hunger through different programme intervention viz. Nutrition and Health, Mental Health and Care practices, WASH, and Food Security & Livelihood. The organization is strengthening its initiatives around Disaster Risk Reduction to help establish integrated and resilience building approach to all its programmes.

Programme Officer-Nutrition and Health

Main Responsibilities:

  • Overall preparation and planning of the research activities in the district
  • Coordination and communication with project staff, health workers, female community volunteers and other stakeholders
  • Team management
  • Ensure and support Logistics, transport and equipment handling 
  • Recording, documentation and reporting
  • Conduct supportive supervision and monitoring of research activities in different clusters
  • Support in financial projection and settlement in timely manner
  • Represent Action Against Hunger in nutrition and health meetings/discussions/ fora

Qualification and Required Skills: 

  • Master’s in public health, nutrition, development studies, nutrition and dietetics, social science or relevant discipline with at least one (1) year of experience in nutrition and health specific programme preferably in International/NGO or UN agency; or Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of experience in aforementioned field
  • Significant experiences in Community/Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (C/IMAM) and/Nutrition in Emergency (NiE) is mandatory 
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of database and spread sheet applications such as excel is essential
  • Experience in using mobile data collection (ODK, KoBo or any similar applications) will have added value
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, negotiation and communication skills
  • Sound Nepali and English communication and presentation skills 
  • Experience in nutrition research and/or nutrition assessments
  • Ability to work in diverse environment with short deadlines and intense pressure
  • Experience in conducting surveys, focus group discussion and key informant interviews
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Willing to travel extensively 
  • Innovative problem solver

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Training/capacity building skill
  • Ability to conduct/organize workshops and meetings independently
  • Possess valid license of two wheeler will be an added advantage

Contract Type : Fixed Term
Contract Duration: 11 months
Duty Station: Nawalparasi West
