Job Title: Programme Manager

Organization: Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Johanniter International Assistance, Nepal Program

Job Location: Country Office Lalitpur with frequent field trips

Working areas: Reconstruction / Rehabilitation, Health, WASH and DRR, Child Protection

Reporting to: Country Director

Responsibilities:

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Be responsible for strategic planning, progress reporting, programme development, monitoring and evaluation in close coordination with the Country Director
  • Works closely with the Country Director in designing and implementing (new) projects in relevant sectors  
  • To manage the project team members both on central level, and field level as well as to coordinate with relevant stakeholders 
  • To follow up with the finance department on budget planning / spending
  • To support/advise the local partner in project implementing, monitoring and reporting
  • To assess the impact of project interventions through rigorous monitoring and evaluation actions
  • To organize and/or carry out pre and post project assessments as well as to oversee and monitor baseline/end-line surveys, feasibility studies etc. 
  • To develop and update project monitoring and reporting tools and to follow up on project indicators, progress reports, monitoring/evaluation analysis and provide recommendations where required
  • To ensure, supervise, verify and finalize monthly progress/interim/final reports of various projects in coordination with the finance department
  • To ensure compliance with Johanniter and donor regulations
  • To develop concept notes, expression of interests, write-ups and project proposals for donors and HQ
  • To always be responsive to the beneficiaries needs and ensure that their views are reflected in the project design and implementation
  • Build and cultivate effective working relationships with the local authorities and other related agencies at central, provincial, district and community level to ensure and facilitate an effective implementation of the country programme/projects
  • To facilitate project orientation/start-up workshops for implementing partners’ senior to mid-level staff involved in project implementation process
  • To assess implementing partners’ staff training needs and where required, organize, facilitate and/or provide training for personnel assigned to the project
  • To supervise the process of acquiring project MoUs between the government, implementing partners and country office
  • To represent Johanniter while attending government, clusters, donors and coordination meetings
  • To liaise and coordinate with the government, partners and donor agencies ensuring an effective cooperation and collaboration
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Country Director

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Social Science, Community Development, or Social Work degree 
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in project/programme management preferably with an international humanitarian organization
  • Demonstrated experience supporting field operations management is required
  • Proven project management skills with experience managing multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders including different communities in the target areas, humanitarian actors, service providers, local and national authorities;
  • Excellent organizational, teambuilding and participatory training skills and experience is required, as well as ability to work as part of a team
  • Project Management skills, including financial planning and documentation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, good reporting writing and communication skills areas required
  • Computer literate (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to travel frequently to different areas in Nepal
