Foundation for Development Management (FDM) (www.fdm.com.np) is a private limited company registered under the Company Act of Government of Nepal in 2000 as a development support organization. Over its past two decades of operation, FDM has conducted a number of assignments pertaining to Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Institutional Development. Having served over 35 national and international clients comprising of government, non–government and donor organizations, FDM primarily works under the thematic areas of education, health, governance, child rights, DRR and GESI. FDM is based in Kathmandu, Nepal and has 15 full-time program staff, over 100 consultants and pool of enumerators spread over 67 districts. In its two decades of operation, it has successfully completed more than 100 M&E and research assignments.

Job Description

The Program Officer (PO) will be responsible for assisting the Director and the Team in the implementation of annual plan of FDM. The PO will design and draft proposals, concept notes, and final written outputs/ reviews in close collaboration with the Program Specialist. S/he is also expected to prepare Terms of Reference and contracts for consultancy work for FDM and to coordinate training courses being organised in Nepal.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Masters degree preferably in Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, or other related field
  • At least 1 year of working experience in the field of development management or similar
  • Willingness to travel for work in rural parts of the country
  • Statistical knowledge/experience would be an added advantage

Competencies:

  • Research skills, project proposal and concept note writing skills
  • Required knowledge on financial management skills, and budgeting
  • Apply statistical theories and methods to solve practical problems in research
  • Knowledge and work experience on contemporary development issues, working with donors and partner organizations
  • Fluency in both English and Nepali
  • Basic IT skills required especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and SPSS/R/STATA
