Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable candidates to work with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP)- Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal GREEN. REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possesses a university degree in journalism or adequate training and relevant work experience, which may be accepted in lieu of a university degree. Good knowledge of the media landscape and of national laws regarding the media

General Functions 

Under the direct supervision of the Press Officer, the incumbent will assist with the following tasks:

  • Assist in achieving maximum visibility for the Mission in the national and international media and social networks. (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others)
  • Assist in developing an overall public outreach strategy making use of community radios, networks of non-governmental organizations, political parties, universities, etc
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining contact with the local and international media
  • Assist in the development of the mission website
  • Assist in preparing a “mission fact-sheet” to explain the mandate and objectives of the Mission to the general public
  • Assist in preparing press releases and press conferences in English and in the national language
  • Assist in the translation of the relevant information and documents issued by the Mission to the public
  • Prepare a comprehensive press distribution list for both local and international media
  • Assist ensuring maximum distribution of the Mission’s press releases, preliminary statement and final report both locally and internationally
  • Assist in ensuring that Mission press releases and statements are communicated regularly to observers
  • Assist in contributing to the preparation of weekly reports, the preliminary statement and the final report
  • Perform any other duty required

NOTE:

  • All positions are open to men and women with no discrimination
  • For all positions, a good linguistic competence (spoken and written) in both English and Nepali is mandatory
  • All candidates must have sufficient computer skills to operate with electronic mail, word processing, public presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Flexibility required. Work is expected on occasions both in the evenings and weekends or even public holidays
  • Place of work is Kathmandu
