Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable candidates to work with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP)- Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal GREEN. REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Qualification And Skills

  • Possess an adequate diploma or training and relevant work experience in logistics; excellent knowledge of country roads and district accommodation options
  • Good knowledge and experience with local suppliers 
  • Flexible and sharp eye for detail

General Functions:

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Expert, the incumbents will assist with the following tasks:

  • Assist the Operations expert and Deputy-Operations expert in the design, planning and execution of all logistics activities necessary to ensure the success of the project, in particular
  • Assist in the installation and dismantling of the office headquarters, distribution of office supplies
  • Identify suppliers, prepare requests, obtain quotations, evaluate offers, verify deliveries
  • Assist his/her supervisor in the reception of goods and equipment
  • Prepares and maintains a detailed inventory of mission assets
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of the equipment kits for each observer and office staff. Recuperates equipment from users at end of mission. Controls handover receipts
  • Assists the Operations expert in the preparation and supervision of events (hotel rooming lists, room bookings, booking of venues, preparation/setup of the briefing and press conference rooms, catering)
  • Assists the Operations Expert in the organisation of the transport of the members of the mission (airport transfers, deployment to the regions, vehicle verification and preparation, briefing of drivers)
  • Assist in the coordination of the movements of the mission participants
  • Prepares and maintains a detailed deployment data table (list of teams, names of observers, deployment area, address of accommodation, GSM and satellite phone numbers, vehicle and driver information)
  • Available to travel occasionally out of the capital
  • Accomplishes any other task as may be required by the supervisor

NOTE:

  • All positions are open to men and women with no discrimination
  • For all positions, a good linguistic competence (spoken and written) in both English and Nepali is mandatory
  • All candidates must have sufficient computer skills to operate with electronic mail, word processing, public presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Flexibility required. Work is expected on occasions both in the evenings and weekends or even public holidays
  • Place of work in Kathmandu
