MAW Skills Academyis an initiative of MAW Enterprises under its subsidiary MAW Earthmovers Pvt. Ltd. (MEPL) with distributorship of premium automobile companies including JCB in the heavy earthmoving and construction sector since 1964. MAW Skills Academy, in association with UCEP Nepal and Citizen Prabidhik Sikshyalaya, is mandated by FCDO Skills for Employment Programme (सीप) to deliver skills development training for employment in heavy equipment operation and maintenance during the pilot phase in three provinces (Province 2, Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province) and with three major outputs: (i) Increased access to employment-linked high-quality training and certification for target population, especially disadvantaged groups in underserved regions; (ii) At least 900 youth, particularly those from underserved geographies and target group, mobilized, trained, certified, and employed at least 80%; and (iii) Increased and improved employer/industry engagement in the TVET system and cross-sectoral institutional linkages. The project has been implemented in a unique model of partnership between private employer/service provider and training institutes with the intention of providing affordable, industry-aligned skills training, certification, and employment in heavy equipment operation while also upgrading the capacity of the training institutes.

Job Purpose: Sr. Officer MarCom will be responsible for driving the marketing and communication strategies whilst ensuring quality engagement with stakeholders to increase advocacy for the MAW Skills Academy. This includes planning, developing, creating and implementing a range of promotional materials to support the marketing and communications plan as appropriate/agreed and maintain external communications to external organizations/collaborators and clients.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing and/or Communications or equivalent training
  • Minimum of three years of successful prior relevant working experience in communication and documentation in an academy/ school and/or fast changing cross cultural environment in marketing or a related administrative leadership role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to supervise, motivate and manage staff to set and achieve goals while acting as a professional mentor
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work irregular hours when required and ability to work and act under pressure

Job Description

  • Provide creative support for communications efforts by developing ongoing new content for print publications, web sites, electronic communication, community engagement, media platforms, and video
  • Plan, coordinate, execute, review and support agency events and functions to ensure they are appropriately organized, scheduled, marketed and executed. Research, propose and secure possible venues for functions based on budget, geography, accessibility, aesthetic appeal and availability
  • Conduct pre-and post-event evaluations and report outcomes to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Assist in the promotion of the image of the organization through the distribution of promotional items, creative printed pieces, and advertisements
  • Responsible for directing event timelines and associated staff and volunteer activities and tracking revenue, expenses, invitations, guest lists and budgeted forecast for all events
  • Recording and producing an accurate summary of total marketing expenditure carried in all aspects of marketing; ATL/ BTL/ Branding/ Promotions and manage cost with in the marketing budgets
  • Organizing and attending events such as trade exhibitions, conferences, sponsorship’s and seminars
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with colleagues to ensure that display materials across the training centres are current, relevant and consistently comply with brand guidelines
  • Ensure all communication – letters / emails / texts – reflect consistently high standards and maintain the academy branding across all communications
