Background and Objectives:

Louis Berger Group seeks a Migration Resource Specialist for a DFID Nepal funded Skills for Employment Programme (SEP) that will work with the Nepalese public and private sector to improve the provision of skills development programmes in Nepal. The programme will enhance the ability of Nepalese workforce to find better jobs domestically and internationally with a focus on the following key sectors: ICT, Hospitality/Tourism, Agriculture, Light Manufacturing/Industry, Hydropower/Construction.

The Migration Resource Specialist role requires a good knowledge of the Nepalese public and private sector and will include liaising with the training institutes, recruitment agencies, and foreign, among others, to skills and link the aspiring workforce to employment. The Migration Resource Specialist will head partnerships and be responsible for coordinating with the skills and migration component leads for programme delivery and monitoring of partnerships in the region.

The position is of a multi-disciplinary nature and will require the candidate to have the following experience and background: 

The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge of 

  • Nepal’s migration process (internal and external)
  • of the GoN past and current policies impacting migration
  • of the stakeholders directly involved in the migration process (public, private, international donors)
  • Knowledge of legal issues linked to migration
  • Knowledge of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) thematic
  • Previous working experience with I/NGO and/or international donors in the migration sector 
  • Previous exposure with DoFE/FEPB/MOLESS

Reporting: 

  • The Migration Resource Specialist will report to the Migration for Development Partnership Advisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or related field; Master’s degree is preferred 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the migration sector. Work experience in ‘skills and employment’ programmes will be preferred 
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, conflict and ethical management skills 
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, especially with accounting software, spreadsheets and financial analysis
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Nepali
