LOB/Department: Business Aligned Infrastructure (BAI)

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Delivering high quality, innovative, cost effective technology infrastructure solutions in support of the business and technology strategy
• Managing all day to day operational aspects to ensure the availability and quality of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including but not limited to desktop and handheld devices, local area and wide area networks, voice, servers and all associated software
• Manage the Global Data Center project for MetLife Nepal and work closely with Regional and Enterprise Infrastructure Teams to ensure successful migration of the data centers

Principal Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of the organization’s servers, network and IT security infrastructure
• Maintaining acceptable technical environments and operational standards for all desktop and handheld equipment throughout the organization
• Establishing and managing relationships with IT infrastructure vendors who may be supplying and supporting infrastructure and applications
• Ensuring the physical and logical security of all server based data and servers within the organization
• Developing performance measures, assets inventory and operational reports and full reporting on areas of responsibility
• Undertaking capacity planning for all aspects of server and network software and hardware and providing regular recommendations based on business requirements
• Managing the Infrastructure and IT support groups to ensure effective partnering with business units to deliver business integration solutions in support of the corporate strategic direction
• Establishing project profitability and overseeing all infrastructure projects to achieve quality, time and cost objectives
• Delivering infrastructure systems and support in line with corporate goals and strategies
• Providing technical guidance and support to Business and Application Managers on major projects that are of strategic significance
• Maintaining a stable complement of motivated technology professionals and utilizing third party vendors and resources where necessary to maximize capacity
• Keeping aware of potential areas for improvement, enhancement and upgrade by maintaining a good working knowledge of advancements in the IT industry
• Ensure effective IT controls are in place in the area of responsibility to comply with corporate and regulatory guidelines

Dimensions:

• Working with the CIO to ensure cost savings within the infrastructure area are identified and actioned. Working within the IT Operations budget
• Management of 2 employees – Application Delivery SME, Service Desk SME

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

• Strong ability to converse with both end users and IT employees at all levels of the organization
• In depth knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, including servers, desktops, handhelds, networks, operating systems and platforms
• Demonstrated IT operations experience in an environment with multiple server locations and Wide Area Network
• Good knowledge of all aspects of networking and web-based technologies
• Deep and broad understanding of the business and technology strategies in which the organization operates
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Personable, conscientious, ability to cope with pressure and prioritize work appropriately
• Strong customer service focus

Qualification Required:

• Preferably 7 years of experience in an infrastructure related role and preferably within the Financial Services industry
• Bachelors /Master’s degree in Science/ Engineering having required knowledge/skills and competencies mentioned

• Internal local - Application Development SME, IT Support/Helpdesk, Users
• Internal regional - Vice President, Head of Infrastructure Asia (ex. Japan), Enterprise IT
• External - IT Vendors and Suppliers
